Despite off-the-field issues, on the field, Bolton Wanderers have had an excellent season as they sit third in the League One table behind Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United.

Phil Parkinson's side are looking to bounce back and return to the Championship at the first time of asking, after a disastrous campaign last season.

Bolton Wanderers have one of the strongest home records both in League One and in the entirety of the Football League.

Despite Bolton's success, Phil Parkinson may begin assessing his squad now and determining who he wants to keep at the club and who he will let leave.

Although Parkinson has worked wonders on a shoe-string budget with a relatively small side, there are still some players on the periphery of the squad who need to be offloaded.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen look at TWO players who need to be offloaded from the team in the summer.....

Dean Moxey

The 31-year-old left back joined Bolton Wanderers from Crystal Palace in 2014, the vastly experienced defender began the season as Bolton Wanderer's first choice left back.

However, a change in tactics and a change in formation saw Dean Moxey's place in the side come under threat and he became a victim of the change in tactics.

Phil Parkinson's decision to switch to a back three rather than a traditional orthodox back four, has seen Moxey become less and less involved as the season progresses.

The former Crystal Palace defender has fallen out of favour at Bolton Wanderers as he has moved to the outer peripheries of Bolton's first team squad.

With the change in tactics and the changing role that Moxey now has, it is anticipated that he will be offloaded by Phil Parkinson in the summer.

Lewis Buxton

Similar to Dean Moxey, Bolton Wanderers right-back Lewis Buxton started the season as Bolton Wanderer's first choice right-back.

Buxton started Bolton Wanderer's first nine games, however, since then he has yet to play make a single appearance even off the bench.

The former Sheffield Wednesday defender joined Bolton Wanderers from Rotherham United on a free transfer in the summer.

However, like Buxton, Phil Parkinson's preference to play with a back three has seen Buxton quickly become surplus to requirements.

It would not come as a surprise if Lewis Buxton, like Moxey, was offloaded in the summer as Phil Parkinson looks for players that suit his new tactics more naturally.
