It's been a tough time for Birmingham City this summer, the Financial Fair Play rules have severely dented their chances of improving on last season's relegation battle.

Garry Monk won't have considered relegation battles when he first planned his summer transfer policy.

Back then he had saved them from the drop and was almost certainly hoping for an upper mid-table finish, maybe even a promotion assault.

Instead, the transfer embargo landed and his hand was weakened, leaving him with the bare bones of a squad ahead for the new season.

His side currently find themselves in 20th place without a win this season, but having only suffered two defeats. They're showing resilience and character, but lack a little bit of quality in the areas that matter.

Even though there's a shortage of talent, one or two of their players need to improve or perhaps face the axe. There's a handful of young players eager for a chance, as well as some benched players wanting to prove their worth.

With that in mind, here are two players FLW believe are in real danger of being axed.

The striker has one goal in his six outings so far this season and it is goals the Blues are missing. Indeed, if they'd turned just two of their draws into wins, they'd be as high as 13th now.

They've lost as many games as third-placed Sheffield United, highlighting the fine margins between success and failure. Strikers must score goals and if Jutkiewicz can't do that, he'll be axed.

Bogle is currently on loan at Birmingham, but like Lukas Jutkiewicz, he can't seem to have an effect up front.

He hasn't scored at all and has recently found himself benched, but if the run continues surely they'll cut their losses? He's tying up an important loan space and with limited room to work, he is perhaps under the spotlight more than most.
