South Yorkshire-based outfit Barnsley are facing a real battle for survival in the Sky Bet Championship this season and new boss Jose Morais must hit the ground running if he is to avoid an instant relegation.

The club were rocked earlier in the season when Paul Heckingbottom opted to take the managerial vacancy at Leeds United and the Tykes now face a real battle to beat the drop into League One.

With one of the smaller budgets in the league most transfer windows are spent wheeling and dealing for new recruits and should they maintain their Championship status it will probably be a case of more of the same for boss Morais in the summer.

FLW writer Lee Clarke looks at two Barnsley players who will be fearful of being flogged by the Tykes come the end of the 2017/18 campaign...

The club's goalkeeper hasn't always performed to the required level during the current campaign and a more confident looking custodian might be on the club's shopping list next season.

Davies has been the club's captain this season when he has been handed the chance to start, but such were his erratic performances he has since been dropped to the bench.

The 25-year-old must be fearing the worst for his future given that he has recently been dropped and he could be on his way out of the club during the summer.

The 23-year-old central defender played a key role in the Barnsley team at the start of the campaign but recently he has been frozen out of the squad completely.

The Darlington-born needs to be playing regular football if he is to continue his development in the professional game and a move away from Oakwell wouldn't be overly surprising come the end of the season.
