Wolves fans have had the pleasure of watching players such as Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro this season, with both of these players getting a lot of positive recognition.

Apart from the very few standouts this year, there hasn't been a consistent starting eleven at the Molineux this year.

Since Walter Zenga's departure as club boss late October 2016, Lambert has done a fantastic job turning the Wolves around.

Their form recently in the Sky Bet Championship has been fantastic and fans of the club will undoubtedly be feeling optimistic ahead of next season.

Although, if they are to progress further up the table next year a successful transfer window is needed.

However, that has been a select amount of players this season in a Wolves shirt that have put in some amazing performances, but just haven't been recognised as much as they deserve.

With that in mind, here are TWO of Wolves' biggest unsung heroes of the 2016/17 season...

Matt Doherty

The 25-year-old has been one of few recurring first team members, as he has played 47 times for the Wolves this season, making him the joint highest on appearances with Dave Edwards.

A right-back by trade, Doherty has filled in at left-back for the majority of the season and has excelled.

The Irishman has also played in all 12 games this season in which Wolves kept clean-sheets, which shows how influential he has been in Wolves' defensive duties.

Additionally, Doherty has contributed five goals and five assists this campaign, showing his value as an attacker as well as a defender.

Conor Coady

Considered Lambert's utility man, Coady has put a shift in all over the pitch.

Mostly, playing way out of position at right-back but has evidently impressed most people at the club.

Fulfilling both attacking and defensive duties, the 24-year-old has put 100 percent effort onto his performance where he's played, even after being disappointed that he hasn't been able to play his favoured defensive midfield role.

Playing 43 times this season, proves how much Lambert values him as a Wolves player even if he hasn't been sang about by the Wolves fans much.
