It's fair to say Hull City won't be splashing the cash in January. The Tigers will be looking to remain financially stable as they look to remain in the Championship.

There's been enough warnings about the perils of overspending, with Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Birmingham all falling foul of the strict FFP regulations. With that in mind, Hull won't be throwing seven-figure sums around to ensure their survival.

They do need additions though, their lack of depth is concerning and they surely need to add some quality to their ranks for the early part of 2019. If they can act quickly, they might steal a march over their relegation rivals and accrue a few crucial points early in January.

Every single point will be important at the end of the season and Nigel Adkins has to bring in the right personnel to help find those points.

We think there's TWO players they need to move quickly for who could, if they hit the ground running, help the Tigers remain a Championship side...

Butterfield is out of favour at Derby and could be on the move.

He would be a key addition for them, he's experienced and would bring a certain steel, but also wouldn't break the bank.

It could be significant business if they tie it up early enough.

This move would benefit both parties. Burke desperately needs a club who'll play him regularly, whilst Hull would get a £15m player for little more than his wages.

West Brom would benefit too, Burke could hurt Championship teams and if he's scoring against the likes of Leeds and Derby, he's helping the Baggies no matter what colour shirt he's wearing.

They're willing to listen to offers too, Hull need to make sure there's one on the table before the fireworks in Trafalgar Square have stopped making noise on New Year's Eve.
