Ipswich Town have been dealt a major blow – with Oli Hawkins facing around six weeks out injured.
Hawkins has scored once in 18 appearances for the Tractor Boys this season, but the Portman Road outfit have confirmed that the former Portsmouth man has undergone surgery on his knee and will spend around six weeks on the sidelines.
The striker missed recent defeat to Swindon , but then returned to the squad for last Saturday’s victory at Burton, playing the final 18 minutes at the Pirelli Stadium.
However, Hawkins is now expected to be unavailable for Ipswich’s next 11 League One fixtures, including the crucial home games with Peterborough United and Sunderland.
Can you name each of these 17 ex-Ipswich Town players just by looking at these 3 clues?
It’s been a testing time for Hawkins following his move from Portsmouth last summer – with his only goal in Ipswich colours coming against Crewe on Halloween.
Thankfully for Paul Lambert, he recently signed Barnsley man Luke Thomas, so should be well-covered in the strike department, especially with Freddie Sears returning from injury last week.
Here’s how the Portman Road faithful have been reacting on Twitter to this latest setback:
Get someone to look into our pitches,so many more injuries than any other club year after year 🤕 #itfc

The injuries this club gets so consistently are actually unbelievable. If I was ME then I’d have an external investigation on the medical/training teams, but I’d have to be an owner who cared to do that.

Six weeks will soon turn into six months I’m sure.
