Ipswich Town have been dealt a major blow - with Oli Hawkins facing around six weeks out injured.

Hawkins has scored once in 18 appearances for the Tractor Boys this season, but the Portman Road outfit have confirmed that the former Portsmouth man has undergone surgery on his knee and will spend around six weeks on the sidelines.

The striker missed recent defeat to Swindon , but then returned to the squad for last Saturday's victory at Burton, playing the final 18 minutes at the Pirelli Stadium.

However, Hawkins is now expected to be unavailable for Ipswich's next 11 League One fixtures, including the crucial home games with Peterborough United and Sunderland.
