Former Coventry City goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic has outlined what transfer business he believes Mark Robins needs to conduct come January, during an interview with the Coventry Telegraph.

The Sky Blues currently sit 21st in the table, with just two wins to their name so far this season, underlining what has been a tough re-introduction to Championship football after several years away for the Midlands club.

Possessing one of the younger squads in the division, Robins has seen his side ship an alarming 23 goals already this term, perhaps suggesting that the club could do with strengthening their ranks during the winter months as the fixture list begins to become congested.

Having watched the Sky Blues for much of the season so far, Ogrizovic was quick to outline what he feels the team should be looking for when the next transfer window rolls around:

20 quiz questions about Coventry City’s current squad that Sky Blues fans should be getting correct

“All I would say is that when you look at the squad it’s very talented and a very young squad but what it lacks is players in there that have got Championship or above experience.

“There’s no real experience in there and most are experiencing it for the first time.

“They have got no old heads, and I’m not talking about bringing in any old has-beens or anything like that but sometimes it just helps if you have got really good experienced players in there who have done it and know what the level is."

The Verdict

Ogrizovic certainly has a point, with Coventry possessing a squad with the average of 25.1, there are certainly some telling signs that they are lacking some good experience and know how for this level.

The gap between League One and the Championship is wider than it has ever been and for that reason we are already seeing a number of Coventry's players struggle to get to grips with what is a steep learning curve.

Robins will certainly be looking to the likes of Liam Kelly and Matt Godden as the club's senior pros to get them out of this rut, with winnable games against Birmingham and Cardiff City on the horizon.

It is fair to assume that the Sky Blues will be busy when January rolls around, particularly if their position in the table doesn't improve.
