Blackburn Rovers' manager Tony Mowbray has insisted that there's plenty going on at Ewood Park as far as transfer dealings go, as per the club's official website.

Rovers have made just one addition to their squad since winning promotion to the Championship with Joe Rothwell joining from Oxford United on a three-year deal.

But Mowbray is insistent that their will be plenty of new faces at Ewood Park before the season kicks-off in August.

“I can imagine it’s easy to look at it and feel like there’s not much going on, but there’s lots going on," he said.

"We are talking to clubs, and we have made some offers, so let’s wait and see. It’s about finding the right players at the right price.

"Some Championship clubs are spending seven or eight million on players and it’s setting the bar quite high.

“Sometimes, if you do deals really early, you pay top price. As it goes on, the numbers come down to a more realistic figure."

Rovers are currently away in Austria at a pre-season camp ahead of kick-off in the Championship in August.

The verdict

Wholesale changes are far from needed. They had a squad last season that could most likely have survived in the Championship so there is no need to bring in lots of new players.

Mowbray is therefore right to wait and make sure he gets the best price for players who will improve his squad even further.
