‘There’s better out there’ – Reading FC eyeing transfer bid for 25-year-old

New Reading manager Jose Gomes needs to hit the ground running if he is to turn things around at the Berkshire club.

According to HITC, the Royals are in competition with Championship rivals Rotherham for the signature of Blackpool defender Donervon Daniels, who is in the last six months of his contract having signed from Wigan in the summer.

So would Daniels be a good signing for Reading?

I think so.

Daniels has been a key member of what has been an impressive defensive unit at Blackpool and it is no surprise that is attractive to the Royals.

Jose Gomes has a big job on his hands to turn Reading’s season around but this would be a decent start.

Gary Hutchinson

It amuses me how these footballers come and go. Just six or seven months ago he was released by Wigan and nobody batted an eyelid.

A bit of decent form and suddenly he’s wanted by Championship clubs!

I’m not sure he’s right for Reading, there’s better out there.

George Dagless

Potentially.

Daniels will be looking to prove himself at a higher level and Reading need hungry players.

It’s a risk, though, given where Reading are in the league.
