Cardiff City remain well in the mix for automatic promotion despite back-to-back losses, with Neil Warnock’s side performing fantastically in the second tier this season.

Level on points with second-place Bristol City, the experienced boss will fancy his side’s chances of defying the odds and achieving promotion to the Premier League for just the second time in the club’s history.

The Bluebirds have come under fire over Christmas for their poor form, and Warnock will look to the January transfer window to bolster his tiring squad ahead of their final push for the top-two.

However the manager has in the last few days attempted to reflect the pressure from his squad ahead of tonight’s visit of Preston North End, by having his say on the £75 million transfer of defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton to Liverpool.

The outspoken gaffer claimed his very own Sol Bamba was actually a better defender than the Dutch international, causing quite a stir in the Press and on social media.
