Having seen his Hull City side defeated at home by Derby County this weekend, manager Nigel Adkins believes the Rams will achieve a top six finish this season.

The win saw Derby climb to fourth in the table, but is Adkins right?

We discuss.....

It'll be close.

Overall their start to the season has been good and they'll surely challenge up at the sharp end.

Lampard faces a tough season but the early signs suggest that they'll be close for sure.

Gary Hutchinson

He would say that, his side have just been well beaten, twice.

I’m not totally convinced they’ll be top six. There’s a lot of good teams vying for the play off spots.

Derby are a decent side, but they’ve come up short against the top teams.

If Adkins says everyone who beats Hull will finish in the play off spots, they might have to extend them to somewhere around 20th.

Jay Taylor

There’s a chance he’s right.

But Nigel Adkins could say that about any team as he is overly positive.

Derby have an inexperienced manager and a fairly young side, and they have a culture of being so near yet so far in recent seasons.

It would take something special to make the top six this season, I believe.

Frank Lampard at Pride Park is a project and I don’t think their fans can expect overnight success and make the top six immediately.

If they do so this season it should be seen as a bonus.

Louie Chandler

Yep, I think so.

They have shown in their opening six games that they are capable of playing outstanding football but can also grind out a win.

I've been impressed with them and they are the sort of team who will only grow as the season progresses.
