With seven goals in all competitions this season, Nahki Wells is showing why he’s still got Championship quality. But will Queens Park Rangers make his stay in West London permanent?

At 29-years-old, Nahki Wells may have felt that career hasn’t lived up to all that it could’ve been.

Once touted as one of the best young players in the Football League with Bradford and Huddersfield, Wells joined Burnley in the Premier League in 2017.

But he never got going at Turf Moor and quickly fell out of favour. He spent last season on loan at QPR and opted for a second-straight loan-spell at the club with Mark Warburton this year.

Under Warburton, Wells looks like the striker of old. Joint-third top-scorer in the Championship with six, he's is making a real statement at Loftus Road.

In the latest FLW Six-Pointer, we discuss whether Wells and QPR will link forces again next year.

Does Wells want to stay at QPR?

"Yes. In an interview with the Lancashire Telegraph this week, Wells said that he ‘wouldn’t hesitate one bit’ if the opportunity to stay beyond this year."

Would QPR fans want Wells to stay beyond this season?

"Absolutely. QPR fans warmed to Wells as soon as he arrived in West London lasts season not just for his goal-scoring threat, but for his work off-the-ball and overall team play."

Why has Wells flourished under Warburton this season?

"Wells has benefited from a more attacking-philosophy under Warburton this season. He's often lead the line with Jordan Hugill, and can often be found running in behind opposition defences."

Can QPR afford Wells?

"QPR are not the free-spending team they once were, but luckily for them Wells will become a free agent in May next year, and Burnley will be unlikely to renew his contract."

Why won't Burnley renew Wells' contract?

"Sean Dyche’s Burnley has moved to favour strikers with more of a physical game, like Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood. There’d likely be no room for the 5’7 Wells at Turf Moor."

Will there be competition to sign Wells next season?

"If Wells continues his form throughout the season, there'll no doubt be a few clubs interested in signing him. If QPR have a poor finish to the season, Wells could look listen to other offers in May."
