Sheffield Wednesday face a busy summer ahead of what could be an exciting 2019/20 campaign under Steve Bruce

After Bruce's arrival last season the club's fortunes turned around quickly with a lengthy unbeaten run taking them from the cusp of the drop zone, under Jos Luhukay, into play-off contention.

Although they eventually fell away it showed that, with a full summer's preparation, Bruce could be the man to turn them back into promotion contenders.

But he may have an unwanted departure to contend with soon.

On Wednesday it was reported by Albanian outlet Ljalm that the Macedonian Champions KF Shkëndija were preparing a move for target man Atdhe Nuhiu.

The Kosovan finished last season as the club's top goalscorer with 14 goals, but what should we make of this latest report?

Here with a six-point opinion on the matter is FLW writer Louie Chandler...

Should fans be concerned?

"I think they should.

"Nuhiu has not exactly set the world alight since arriving at Hillsborough but he has been a reliable and steady goalscorer during his time at the club.

"With nobody else looking likely to step up and score 20+ for the Owls, he is somebody they should be looking to hang onto."

What could attract him to the move?

"Having been born and raised in Yugoslavia, a move to Macedonia would most-likely mean a move closer to home and to his family.

"The move would also mean the chance to play Champions League football with Shkëndija having secured a qualifying spot.

"And, at 29, playing in Europe with Sheffield Wednesday is looking impossible so there will certainly be a temptation to move."

Would might deter him from leaving?

"How they finished the previous campaign.

"Had the club scraped to survival with very little momentum carrying them into the next campaign, this might have been a much easier choice for Nuhiu.

"But because they showed an impressive late burst to get into contention for the play-offs, he may well be tempted to stick around and see what next season brings."

Is Nuhiu replaceable?

"Of course.

"As mentioned above he is far from a world-beater and I am not sure that Wednesday would struggle too badly to find someone to step-in."

What will Steve Bruce be thinking?

"He could definitely do without it.

"Having already announced that a fair few players will be getting released this summer, the last thing he will want is for a potential first-choice man to leave.

"As mentioned, I think he is replaceable, but with plenty of work to do already it is not what the club needs."

Will the move go through?

"I don't think it will.

"It is something I could see happening in the future but I think for now Nuhiu will be keen to stick around and see how next season pans out."
