Next season looks like it could be an exciting one for Queens Park Rangers as they look to push up and away from the relegation zone.

Only the sacking of Steve McClaren in the final weeks of the campaign seemed to save them from spiralling into League One, and now it is up to Mark Warburton to turn them around.

However, work will need to be done in the transfer market having released five first-team players including Jake Bidwell, Pawel Wszolek and Joel Lynch.

One name who has been linked with a move to Loftus Road is Charlton midfielder Jonny Williams, according to the Daily Mail, who has enjoyed a positive spell at the Valley since arriving on loan in January.

But with his deal running out in the summer the Addicks risk losing him.

Taking on today's six-point opinion today is FLW writer Louie Chandler.

Do they need him?

"With the likes of Wszolek leaving the Rs will definitely need more creativity in their side.

"And there is no question that he provides that spark. Eberechi Eze shone in midfield last season but he cannot be expected to carry the creative torch on his own.

"Williams would add a good dose of competition and would no doubt help the side on a whole."

Is the link a positive sign?

"Definitely.

"There is no question that QPR lacked an attacking spark for much of last season so targeting players who will add more going forward is good sign.

"Not just positionally as well, but the value. Williams would be a very shrewd recruit and the Rs badly need a bit of transfer window nouse."

What are the main risks?

"Without a doubt his fitness.

"His run at Charlton has probably been the most successful stage of his career in years, judging on percentage of matches played.

"When Williams gets injured it tends to leave him sidelined for months at a time which will surely be a worry for the club."

Could they do better?

"I think they probably could.

"They may have had their troubles recently but QPR are still an attractive club to play for and working under Mark Warburton should be a lure as well.

"That is not to say that Williams would be a poor signing, but you would back them to pick up some brighter, up and coming talent from League One."

Would he be a regular starter?

"I very much doubt it.

"Williams would most likely be an impact player to be brought on from the bench and fill in when others take a knock."

Will it happen?

"I think they could struggle to keep him.

"He did brilliantly during his spell with Charlton and I would be very surprised if Lee Bowyer does not tie him down to a new deal.

"The state of things off the field at the Valley is not ideal but even still I think he will remain their for next season at least."
