Both Thomas Christiansen and Mateusz Klich departed Elland Road in recent weeks.

Christiansen paid with his job after a run of form that saw the club go through January without a single win in all competitions as they slid out of the Championship play-off picture.

Klich left Elland Road on a loan deal, joining Dutch outfit FC Utrecht on loan until the end of the season and has been very forthright about his relationship with the former Leeds manager.

The 27-year-old Polish midfielder made only ten appearances across all competitions for Leeds under Christiansen and expressed his frustration to Dutch outlet De Stentor.

He said: "Of the matches I have played, I know that I can handle the level of the Championship. I did not have a good relationship with the coach, Thomas Christiansen.

"What has happened between us? I do not want to go into details too much. It's only frustrating when you know you can handle the level, but do not get a chance to show it."

The Verdict

It is understandable that Klich is frustrated by his lack of game-time at Elland Road - although the fact that he has made only three Eredivisie appearances may indicate that the issue was not isolated to Leeds.

I am surprised to hear that his relationship with Christiansen - who for all his faults seemed classy - was not good but maybe Paul Heckingbottom will be able to build bridges come the summer.
