QPR manager Mark Warburton is looking at a potential transfer swoop for Swansea City winger Barrie McKay, as reported on the Daily Record live blog (July 3, 8:38am).

Three former Ibrox stars have already joined the Hoops, with Lee Wallace, Liam Kelly and Dom Ball having made the move, but Warburton wants to make that four by landing McKay, who still has two years left on his current contract at Swansea City.

So would McKay be a good addition at Loftus Road?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"Potentially.

"McKay is a talented footballer but needs to add that consistency to his game to really fulfil the immense potential he has.

"At Rangers and Forest we saw real flashes of it and often that was under Mark Warburton's guidance.

"In that sense, this could be a very good deal for QPR as there is a chance they can get him going.

"There is a risk element to it, though, as QPR cannot afford players that don't perform regularly this season."

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes, this would be a good signing. He did well at Nottingham Forest until Mark Warburton was sacked and there is clearly a relationship there.

“Some players do well for certain managers and not others. A boss likes to have his own generals in the team, players he can trust not only on the field, but off it as well.

“Warburton is a man who likes to work with the same faces at different clubs. I felt he was unlucky to be sacked at Forest and their subsequent dramas have proven that to be the case in my opinion. At QPR he’s got a great chance to rebuild his reputation.

“He’s doing that with tried and tested players. Besides, Mckay is a decent footballer, creative and able to chip in with goals. That’s one thing they lacked under McClaren last season.”

George Brooks

"McKay could be a good signing for QPR and a decent replacement for Luke Freeman, after he left the club to join Sheffield United.

"The winger was an important player for Swansea last season and he could be able to make an impact at Loftus Road.

"Mark Warburton was has been able to get the best out of the player before at both Rangers and Nottingham Forest - there's no reason why he can't do it again at QPR.

"McKay has two years remaining on his contract at Swansea though, so QPR may have to pay a significant fee to get him and that would put him under a lot more pressure to perform next season if he does move to Loftus Road."
