‘There is a rough diamond there’ – Many Preston North End fans react to player’s performance v Sheffield United

Preston North End stretched their unbeaten run to eight last night, with a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.

The Lilywhites, who played out a goalless draw with Bristol City at the weekend, found themselves a goal down after just seven minutes when Morgan Gibbs-White slotted home with a half-volley on the stretch.

Daniel Johnson then restored parity 12 minutes later, capitalising on Robin Olsen’s wayward positioning. Sander Berge seemingly grabbed a winner in the 84th minute, but Emil Riis calmly equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time to grab a point.

Riis’ opener was his third Championship goal of the campaign, and his sixth of the season, after netting a further three in the Carabao Cup, including a brace against Morecambe and another one against Mansfield Town in the second round of the competition.Β
