According to The Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce has been running the rule over some of Aston Villa's players that are out on loan as he weighs up whether to keep them or get rid in the summer.

Jordan Veretout and Carles Gil are two players that Bruce has been keeping a close eye on in recent weeks and there might be a future for the duo beyond the end of the season.

Roberto di Matteo sanctioned loan exits for Veretout and Gil in the summer and Steve Bruce is unable to bring them back this season because there is no recall clause in their loan deals.

Talented French midfielder Jordan Veretout is out on loan at Saint-Etienne this year after failing to make much of an impact in his debut season in England last year.

Carles Gil, on the other hand, is out on loan at Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.

It is believed that Carlos Sanchez, who is out on loan at Fiorentina, will exercise his option to buy clause and make his stay in Italy permanent.
