‘There are too many good sides that will finish above Forest’ – Nottingham Forest.. Top six? We take a look..

Nottingham Forest have had an inconsistent start to the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship season, and they head into the international break in 13th spot.

Manager Mark Warburton will be looking to iron out the issues that has seen them lose four out of their last six league matches.

Many Reds fans may of been hoping for a top six push after their impressive form in the opening few games of the season, but expectations have probably lowered in recent weeks.

However, the season is still in its early stages, and there is plenty of time for Forest to launch a serious push for the play-off spots.

The writers here at Football League World have issued their opinions on Forest’s chances of a top six finish….

Chris Gallagher

Forest are not good enough defensively to make the top six, it’s as simple as that. They play a good style of football and have various attacking threats, but conceding goals will cost them.

They have kept just one clean sheet all season which is not good enough for any side with play-off ambitions. Mark Warburton will need to address this problem in January but I think they’ll be way off the pace by then.

There are too many good sides that will finish above Forest, who should concentrate on growing over the next few seasons.

George Dagless

Nottingham Forest are a great side to watch when they’ve got it all hooked up going forwards but defensively there’s still issues.

Only Bolton, Sunderland and Burton Albion have conceded more than them in the Championship this season and until they tighten up, a top six finish is some way off.

If they can find something that works to help them shut up shop this season, though, and keep their attacking flair then yes, they do have a very good chance.

Alfie Burns

Nottingham Forest started the 2017/18 campaign magnificently, with Mark Warburton’s side looking like they could push for promotion at the end of August.

However, an embarrassing slump in form has seen Forest slide down the table, with major question marks now surrounding their promotion credentials.

Forest have an outside chance of a top-six finish this season, but the likelihood is that Warburton will have his eye on a major push next year.

Adam Simeoni

They’re a mid-table side at best.

Following an electric start to the season, it appears Mark Warburton’s men have gone off the boil in recent weeks.

Victory over Sheffield United before the international break was essential, and fans will hope the club can continue their winning form in the East Midlands match-up with Derby.

Are Forest good enough for the top six? I’m not so sure.

There are too many teams in the league with superior squads, and a mid-table finish should be considered a positive return.
