Sunderland's teenage sensation Josh Maja is being linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's side are reportedly part of a trio of sides watching the impressive 19-year-old, who has made an explosive start to the League One season.

He's already fired nine goals in just 12 outings in the league, helping the Black Cats to third place ahead of the international break.

Usually, the break doesn't apply to League One, but Sunderland have enough call-ups to postpone their match with Blackpool. That means scouts won't be able to watch Maja in action this weekend.

Maja was on the books of Man City as a youngster, but wasn't offered a deal. That now looks to be a mistake as they take another look at the player they once rejected.

Is he suited to a move to the current Champions? Or would the switch be folly on their part? Our team of FLW experts discuss the possibility of Josh Maja moving to Manchester City.

George Harbey

Really?

Maja should think twice before making this move - with the money City have it’s highly unlikely that Maja will step up to the first team within the next few years.

Of course, the likes of Phil Foden have flourished under Guardiola, but he only really features in Carabao Cup games.

George Dagless

I can't see this.

City have huge attacking talent and great young players already at the club.

Maja could go there and prove a point but I just think it would be too big a risk for a player at his stage in his career.

Jacob Potter

As a 19-year-old it would be difficult to turn down the Premier League champions who could definitely offer more money in wages for the youngster.

But would his development be best served at City, I think not. He wouldn't be getting the required game time to develop to his full potential.

Jay Taylor

This move would be futile for the striker and a patch to the first team would be continually blocked.

It wouldn't be the wised of moves considering the other clubs interested in his services as there is no realistic way to become a City regular in my eyes.

The financial rewards would supplement the U23s football and one would assume several loans would occur.

There are even better options out there.
