Sheffield Wednesday appear to have turned a corner a bit in the Championship and fans will be a bit annoyed that the international break has arrived when it has.

Indeed, wins over Aston Villa and Millwall have steadied things at the club and now they are looking to try and get themselves towards the top six.

Whilst we wait to see what happens when the league resumes, then, we've been thinking about who the next big thing could be at the club, and here's who we came up with...

Alfie Burns

If the Owls can sort out his ongoing contract dispute, it will undoubtedly be George Hirst.

Hirst is a player that nearly everyone at Hillsborough wants to see in the first-team, with the young striker having the potential to excel at senior level for Wednesday.

The Owls need to sort the youngster’s future out, as if he ends up leaving Hillsborough, their potential loss will be somebody else’s gain.

Chris Gallagher

George Hirst.

The son of the famous Wednesday legend David has been known for a while, but has yet to have a chance to make a breakthrough at Hillsborough.

He is a striker and has scored goals for fun at youth level, which has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

A big worry is that his long-term future isn't secure and the Owls need to tie him down as he could be a great player.

Adam Simeoni

It has to be George Hirst.

The 18-year-old has bags of talent for someone of such a tender age, and Carvalhal needs to carefully manage the player over the coming months to ensure he slots seamlessly into the first team.

Hirst can become a regular goal scorer at Hillsborough, but needs to take his chances when they come if and when the contract dispute is sorted.
