Swansea have had a fairly good start to the season, and sit fourth in the Championship despite defeat to Stoke City on Saturday.

Steve Cooper took over as manager over the summer, and has been able to carry on the work that Graham Potter was doing at the Swans whilst also adding his own style and identity to the side.

The defeat to Stoke was a bit of a shock for the fans at the Liberty Stadium, and means that the Swans have won just once since the victory over Leeds United five games ago.

Here we discuss Swansea's aims for the season in an FLW Six Pointer after a surprise start to the campaign...

How has the season gone so far?

It's been excellent so far, especially after considering how negative the Swans fans were when Graham Potter left to Brighton in the summer.

A win at Leeds was probably the best result, but the victory in midweek against Charlton just last Wednesday was excellent and put them at the top of the table until Saturday.

Why is this the case, is it to do with the new manager?

It is, he's been brilliant so far and his man management and skills have been effective for the Swans players and their side.

Many of the players have commented positively on the boss, and he's been very honest in his post-match interviews, so I assume the same honesty would be used when it comes to talking the players.

Can they bounce back after the international break?

Yes, they can, they've done it before and they'll do it again. Swansea have a good team ethic and you can see on the pitch that they lose as a team and win as a team.

They face Barnsley after the international break, and if I were a Reds fan I'd be worried. They'll be up for it even more and their mix of youth and experience will stand them in good stead for when they face lows throughout the season.

Is their squad good enough for the top six?

This is the key question of all Swansea supporters' lips, I think they have enough about them to certainly challenge but their squad does look short in certain positions.

They have Borja Baston at striker, but despite having a couple of youngsters who could turn into great players, if Borja was to be injured then there might be a lack of forwards within the team.

I think they're good enough to challenge, and will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

What should their aim for the season be?

They shouldn't have one. That's a bold statement, but they should aim for the highest heights of the Championship this season, and see what happens.

There's no real standout side in the league this season, perhaps West Brom, but no one who looks unplayable. Swansea showed they can compete near the top in the first stages of the season, and if they do have an aim, they should aim for the very top.

Will they be disappointed if they didn't get top six?

It depends on the manner and the way they would fail to get into the play-offs.

Looking at Swansea, and looking at the other teams in the Championship, I think it's the one year where the league is wide open and the Swans must play on that and their good start and just keep going.

It'll be tough but I think they'd be slightly disappointed if they didn't make the top six if they were still in it come December.
