Described as one of the greatest football downfalls ever, going from a Champions League semi-final to home clashes with MK Dons, Leeds have fielded some utter rubbish in the past five years.

After their relegation from the Premier League, Leeds have struggled to progress with few signings actually paying off for whichever manager was in charge at the time.

In the past five years Leeds have fielded some great players, players that have gone on to feature in the Premier League and move on to greater things, but they've also fielded some of the worst players to ever grace the Elland Road turf.

Obviously, every fan has their opinion on a player that doesn't deserve to be in the starting 11 but looking at these players, it's hard to disagree.

Leeds fans question as to why no progress has been made in the past 5 years - looking at these players it's understandable as to why!

Goalkeeper: Paul Rachubka

Playing just six times for the Whites and famously making three errors in half an hour away at Blackpool, before being substituted at half time, Rachubka was later replaced by loanee Alex McCarthy.

Terrible goalkeeper!

Defender: Scott Wooton

Signing from Manchester United for £1million, you'd expect the right back/central defender to make a name for himself in Championship - he has, but for all the wrong reasons.

Recently scoring a shocking own goal in the FA Cup against Watford, Wooton is often criticised by the majority of Leeds fans.

Defender: Mansour Assoumani

Mansour Assoumani

He may be the most pointless signing of all time.

Playing just once under Gary McAllister in 2008, Assoumani was released after a year before later joining Wrexham.

He currently makes a living at FC Istres.

Defender: Tom Lees

Tom Lees joined United's defence as a poor centre back.

With the turning circle of a bus, the pace of a tortoise and the ability of a potato, Lees added to Leeds' defensive dilemmas.

He currently plays for Sheffield Wednesday after being sold a few seasons ago, and is now one of the Owls' most key players.

Defender: Ľubomír Michalík

Slovakian 6 foot 5 centre back Michalik played 56 times for the Whites, scoring two goals.

Due to his height Leeds fans will have expected a defensive monster, yet what they got was a timid player with little hope of seeing off an attack.

Midfielder: Ben Parker

One of the most injured players of all time, Ben Parker currently plays at Guiseley after making 40 appearances for Leeds in over seven years.

Injury prone to say the least, Parker is an easy selection in this worst Leeds United XI.

Midfielder: Ryan Hall

Making eight appearances for United in a year before falling out with the club and fans, Hall was a shocking winger who brought nothing to Leeds.

He eventually left for Bromley, and has found himself at an array of clubs during his career.

Hall currently plies his trade for Sky Bet League Two outfit Luton Town, and is a regular for them.

Midfielder: David Norris

norriss888

Making 30 appearances in three years after a move from Portsmouth, Norris 'went missing' from the Leeds team.

Some fans actually called for a search party as he failed to appear in the Leeds side for several months.

Norris never seemed to rekindle the sort of form he showcased at Portsmouth, and it just didn't quite work out for the central midfielder at Elland Road.

Midfielder: Jimmy Kebe

Regarded as a promising signing by Leeds fans, Kebe was poor on a weekly basis for the Whites.

He made nine appearances, scoring one goal in a somewhat forgettable spell.

He had an incredible amount of pace and trickery, yet whenever he put on the white shirt of Leeds United, he was always very, very underwhelming.

Striker: Luke Varney

varney

After joining Leeds in 2012, Varney made 42 appearances, scoring six times.

A poor record for a striker.

Leeds fans did however make him a song.... Something to take their mind off the football itself.

He came to Leeds United being renowned for being a poacher who scores goals on a regular basis, but more often that not, he was in the wrong positions in the box.

Striker: Noel Hunt

hunt5

Not scoring in a single appearance for Leeds, Hunt could be regarded as the worst signing Leeds have made, after joining from Reading.

Definitely a striker suitable of a place in this team, Hunt was poor on the whole.

The Irish striker was impressive during his time at the Madejski Stadium with Reading, but for some reason, it did not work at Leeds United.
