The last few seasons have been a bit unstable to say the least for Coventry City.

Ousted from their own state of the art stadium due to payment and rent issues, they spent a season playing at Northampton Town for home games, before returning to the Ricoh.

During this time the club has had some excellent players, with Callum Wilson being the stand out, and players like Leon Clarke and Carl Baker impressing too.

But for every top player at a club, there always seems to be those who simply come in, and for one reason or another are simply not up to the job of performing to the expected level of a professional football club.

Coventry are no different, and I am sure there are plenty of names fans could reel off in regards to being poor players.

Here at FLW, our writer Lee Connor takes a look at the WORST XI to play for Coventry City in the last FIVE seasons......

GK - Ryan Allsop

Ryan Allsop

One that fans will probably agree on to start with is Ryan Allsop, the goalkeeper who spent time on loan with the club in 2014.

He made over 20 appearances during his loan spell, but was far from impressive, and never really shone or did anything to encourage the fans to take him to heart.

At a club which is used to seeing decent goalkeepers at the very least, with Steve Ogrizovic a club legend, Allsop simply did not live up to expectation, and now spends his playing time in League Two with Wycombe Wanderers.

Def - Chris Hussey

Chris Hussey

Hussey spent 3 seasons with the club between 2010 and 2013, and did little to impress anyone during this time.

Hussey made just over 50 appearances during this time with the club, and contributed only one goal from left back, with little in terms of assists for teammates.

Signed for £120k, which does not sound much but is a strain on Coventry's resources these days, Hussey will be seen as a poor player, and he was promptly moved on to AFC Wimbledon inn 2013.

Def - Andy Webster

Andy WebsterAndy Webster

Although Webster was a regular during his two seasons with the club, he was seen as a bit of a liability and not actually that good of a centre half.

Signed from Hearts, he did actually make over 70 appearances for the club, but not too many of those will be looked back on fondness by fans.

Webster moved on to St Mirren back up in Scotland where he continues to ply his trade, and he is not exactly somebody who is missed at the Ricoh.

Def - Reece Brown

Reece BrownReece Brown

Brown will probably make quite a few teams if you did a worst 11, with numerous loan spells over the past few years amounting to very little.

His time at Coventry was no different, and he made only 6 appearances for them before returning to his parent club.

Signed from Man United, more was expected of someone who had been identified at Old Trafford as a potential player to break into the Red Devils first team, but he ultimately disappointed and never became anything more than a poor to average defender.

He plays now for League One Bury, after being released by Barnsley the season before.

Def - Nathan Cameron

Nathan Cameron

The clumsy defender made only 48 appearances over a four year period with the Sky Blues, and was not impressive at all to say the least.

For someone with his size and athleticism, he simply did not live up to the sort of performances he had been expected to deliver for the club since breaking into the first team.

Cameron spent time with both Nuneaton and Northampton while at Coventry, and now plays for Bury, with fellow Sky Blues failure Reece Brown.

Mid - Gary Deegan

Gary Deegan

The Irish midfielder makes this team with ease, after being banned by the club towards the end of his time with the club for making pro IRA statements on social media.

On the pitch he was not much better, with his performances not really up to much, and numerous injuries hindering any progress he may have made at the club.

Deegan is still playing now, and currently sits with with Southend United in League One.

Mid - David Bell

David Bell

A £500,000 signing, Bell was part of the side which was relegated from the Championship to League One in 2012.

He played only one more season for the Sky Blues, making only 7 appearances in an ill fated first season in League One for the club.

Despite making nearly 100 appearances during his stay with the club, many fans are convinced that he was simply not good enough and was part of the reason for the teams lack of success in the first place.

Mid - Stephen Hunt

Stephen Hunt

Part of the current playing squad, the 34-year-old has not lived up to being anything like the player he once was, and it may be that he is coming to the end of his career.

Less than 5 appearances this season for the Sky Blues leaves a lot to be desired, and whether it be for fitness reasons or something else, Hunt has not worked out as planned at the Ricoh.

Coventry have struggled to hold on to a play off place this season, and will have expected more from Hunt when he signed in the summer.

Fwd - Nick Proschwitz

Nick Proschwitz

The German had a spell on loan with the club last season and did nothing to inspire anyone during his time with the Sky Blues.

He contributed only 1 goal during his spell on loan from Brentford, and his overall play in general was decidedly poor.

The German was sent back to his club with no permanent deal in place, and now plays for relatively unknown club Sint-Truidense.

Fwd - Simeon Jackson

Simeon-Jackson

Three goals in just under 30 appearances pretty much sums it up for Simeon Jackson and his spell at the Ricoh Arena.

Jackson spent only a year with the club before being moved on, where he signed for Barnsley and suffered another miserable spell, which yielded no goals at Oakwell.

Jackson somehow secured a move to Blackburn Rovers in the summer, but he has again done nothing, showing those at Ewood Park exactly what everyone in Coventry already knew.

Marc Antoine Fortune

Marc Antoine Fortune

Fortune is a current member of the squad, but has done hardly anything to warrant much positivity around him.

Fortune has contributed only 2 goals so far during his spell with the club, and fans have often been seen to be shaking their heads at the big striker.

So much more was expected of the former Celtic and West Brom man when he signed, and he has simply not delivered so far. It would be very surprising to many to see him in a Sky Blues shirt next season.
