A huge summer is on the horizon for Wolves as they look to mount a promotion charge under Paul Lambert next season.

With a huge squad of players to trim, I look at the five players who are at the biggest risk of leaving....

George Saville

Since joining in the 2014/15 season Saville has been somewhat of a misfit at Wolves.

He was sent on loan in that same season to Bristol City and then to Millwall in the 2015/16 season until January.

He has made 29 appearances this season scoring once in the opening day draw to Rotherham.

He can be best described as a jack of all trades but master of none, as the central midfielder has played left midfield and also left back for Wolves this season.

His contract is up at the end of this season but with how regularly he appears in the squad for match day, there is a chance he could be offered a new deal.

Wolves should however, let him go as there are better players at the club already plus talented youth players Connor Ronan and Christian Herc.

Andy Lonergan

The 33-year-old keeper was signed at the start of this season as a free transfer after leaving Fulham. He was seen as an experienced back up to Carl Ikeme.

The move has not worked out as whenever called upon Lonergan has performed poorly, making a lot of errors. Lonergan always seems to be reluctant to come off his line and help take the pressure of his defenders, and when he eventually does he often comes out missing the ball. Recent errors against Brighton have highlighted why Wolves should be looking to sell him next season.

The emergence of young academy product Harry Buygoyne has also lessened the need for Wolves to keep Lonergan.

The 20-year-old has been impressive this season making important saves in the FA Cup win against Liverpool and 3-1 away win to Barnsley.

Joe Mason

The 25-year-old forward has endured a lot of injuries this season suffering from hernia problems.

Mason has only managed 21 appearances scoring three times notably against Midland rivals Birmingham City and Aston Villa. It was reported Wolves turned down an offer from Bristol City on deadline day in the summer transfer window. It is hard to see a place for Mason next season as Wolves will be on the hunt for a prolific, reliable goal scorer.

Young players like Donovan Wilson and Bright Enobakhare are the future for Wolves and have slowly been blooded in, potentially taking Mason’s place in the squad.

Mason is not a bad player but his recent injury record has been poor, so I feel it is likely Wolves will be open to offers this summer.

Paul Gladon

Some reading will be forgiven for thinking Paul who? The Dutch striker was signed from Heracles Almelo in the summer for around 1m and has been a huge waste of resources at Wolves.

The 25-year-old has made just three appearances scoring no goals. He has hardly appeared in any squads even at U23 level which probably tells you what the coaching staff at Wolves think.

Many Wolves fans have noticed his uploads on Instagram about going out eating at restaurants, with many making comments like ‘I think we only pay this guy to go around and taste local food!’ The sooner Gladon is off the wage bill the better for Wolves.

Jed Wallace

Signed from Portsmouth in the 2015/16 season there was a lot of hope that Wallace could provide goals from midfield like he did at Pompey.

Due to injuries and not being able to break into the side on a consistent basis, the midfielder has found himself on loan at Millwall last season and this one. The winger has enjoyed his time on loan even stating he is now playing for his future away from Wolves.

With the player keen to go and Wolves having the options of Helder Costa, Ivan Cavaleiro, Jordan Graham, Ben Marshall and Michal Zyro on the wings it is clear that Wallace is surplus to requirements.

At 23 the time is right for Wallace to leave and play regular football.
