It's been a tough season for all down at Portman Road for Ipswich Town, who have struggled to really escape the bottom half of the Championship table all season.

In what has been a pretty uninspiring season for the Tractor Boys, there's been little to cheer for Mick McCarthy's men this time around and their supporters will surely want more from their team next season.

Granted, they've secured their future for yet another season but this is a side that is better than just scraping by season after season.

And there's one man we think could really get his career going again down at Portman Road and that's £2.5million-rated Wolves forward Joe Mason, who has struggled for form and game-time all season.

Despite Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's difficulty in getting the goals this campaign, Mason hasn't really been involved much at all, playing just 18 times in the league this season, most of those coming from substitute appearances.

But as we've seen in the past, he's a willing worker who has got pace and a real eye for goal. His Cardiff City days seem a long time ago now but that's the sort of form he should be looking to rediscover if he's to potentially help his new side to any joy next campaign.

He's a player that will surely be sold by Paul Lambert over the summer months in order to free up some space for new additions. And Mick McCarthy should definitely consider bringing Mason to East Anglia to lead what would be a seriously unlikely play-off push next season.
