West Brom are set to take on Aston Villa in the first leg of their potentially explosive play-off semi-final today.

However, after the stupid actions of Hal Robson-Kanu last week, where the experienced forward petulantly kicked out at Bradley Johnson, he will be watching on from the stands.

Given Albion were seemingly nailed on for a top six finish for a long time now, boss Jimmy Shan will have had just a few main targets coming into the final weeks of the season.

Firstly, they will have wanted to hold on to fourth place to ensure they get home advantage in the second leg, which they did. And, the other would've been no injuries or suspensions to members of the squad.

So, for Robson-Kanu to get himself sent off late on in the final league game of the regular season was completely idiotic and it will have infuriated the boss.

Whilst not a regular starter, the former Reading man was often used from the bench and has produced some key moments this season - including scoring in a win at Villa Park.

Therefore, he will be missed over the two games and potentially a Wembley final.

Obviously, the player will be gutted now and he will be hoping and praying his teammates can deliver, otherwise serious questions could come his way.

There's no getting away from the fact that he let his teammates and the fans down, so when the action starts this afternoon he will be watching on like all Baggies fans and will be feeling as nervous and as tense as they do.
