West Bromwich Albion maintained their unbeaten record at the Hawthorns at the weekend, with a second consecutive 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Slaven Bilic's side were looking to get back to winning ways after having to produce a second half fight back to recover from being 2-0 down to Barnsley to earn a point, but despite taking a 2-1 lead with nine minutes to play, the Baggies were unable to see the game out and had to settle for successive draws from two home games.

That will be somewhat disappointing for West Brom, considering that Leeds United, who started the day in second place in the table, were also held to a draw at the weekend by Sheffield Wednesday, meaning that Bilic's side failed to extend their lead at the top of the table, with Preston North End moving up into second place, two points behind the Baggies, following a comeback win against Blackburn Rovers.

The two goals West Brom scored added to their tally of 26 league goals in 14 matches so far, the second best offensive record in the league behind Preston, but once again Bilic's side had to find goals from the bench in their pursuit of taking more points from the match, with substitute Hal Robson-Kanu coming off the bench to net their second goal.

That was the striker's second goal from the bench in the last three games, with Robson-Kanu also having coming from the bench to net the late winner at the Riverside in West Brom's 1-0 win at Middlesbrough, which suggests that the 30-year-old should be now heavily in the thoughts of Bilic in terms of getting a starting place in the next few weeks.

Robson-Kanu's upturn in form in the last few weeks has been vital for the Baggies, considering that both summer signings Kenneth Zohore and Charlie Austin have so far failed to find their best form at the Hawthorns, with Zohore not even making the match day squad in the last few games and Austin scoring just once in the league so far this term.

That has meant that Bilic has had to find goals from other areas of the pitch, with the likes of Grady Diangana, Filip Krovinovic, Matt Phillips and Matheus Periera under increased pressure to make the difference in front of goal, which so far they have all managed to do between them helping the Baggies' score enough goals to keep themselves at the top of the league.

However, West Brom will be needing to find a more reliable and regular scoring presence up front over the next few weeks and months, if they are to sustain a promotion bid, and given Robson-Kanu's impact from the bench recently he should have done enough to earn a chance to impress from the start against Stoke City on Monday night.

It will be a big decision for Bilic to drop Austin, having already dropped his other summer signing Zohore from his squad, but it is a decision which the West Brom boss needs to make in an attempt to get the Baggies' strikers adding more goals to the team.
