Sheffield United's player recruitment this summer is well underway, however, many will be underwhelmed that Chris Wilder hasn't much Championship experience to his squad so far.

Of course, there is plenty of the transfer window ahead for the Blades to add to their fairly significant squad, but as pre-season approaches the club have to consider bringing in talent as soon as possible to allow over a month of gelling and working that team ethic which Wilder abundantly praises.

That is why they should splash the cash on £213k-rated Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan, who would become an excellent acquisition by Sheffield United if they pulled this deal off in the coming weeks.

The 21-year-old has heavily been rumoured to be departing Anfield this summer in search for game time and to kick-start his career elsewhere, which may happen to be Bramall Lane if the Blades swooped for his services.

Brannagan savoured a rather splendid loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season, in the same division as United, and played an influential role in their rise up the table and only failing in the Play-Off semi-finals.

He may have only racked up thirteen outings in his time at Highbury between January and April but the highly-thought of man left the Cod Army with positive reviews and perhaps was playing below his level in the third-tier.

It is clear that Cameron Brannagan is Championship quality, however, that doesn't mean every team would give him regular minutes and Sheffield United are one of a handful who can give him time to develop - which is why it is worth spending the money on him.
