Nottingham Forest are feeling ambitious this summer and there's no reason why they can't challenge up at the sharp end in 18/19.

The Reds have been in the doldrums a fair bit in recent years and relegation battles are certainly not what the club should be getting involved in.

With Aitor Karanka and the owners eyeing good players, though, there's a good chance that a top-six spot can be secured next May.

Aside from big-name signings, though, Forest also have some good young players that might be able to make the step up next season and become heroes in their own right.

With that in mind, we take a look at three that could potentially shine next season...

Ryan Yates is a midfielder who can certainly play.

He's neat on the ball and provides good tempo whilst his industry is also something that Karanka would like.

Forest have a lot of midfield options and Karanka will probably want to bring in more but Yates deserves a shot after a decent season last year.

Virgil Gomis has been part of the U23 Forest side that has impressed of late.

He's got great power and pace and a decent eye for goal and with Forest needing to improve offensively he may get his chance.

The two recent Portuguese arrivals might make that a little more difficult but Gomis still deserves a mention for next season.

Jorge Grant is a player Forest fans would love to see step up and make the grade.

He was excellent last season for local rivals Notts County and with them failing to get promoted from League Two perhaps Karanka will give him a chance to shine in pre-season.
