There’s a huge season on the horizon for Nottingham Forest, who struggled during large parts of the previous Championship campaign.

Now led by former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, the Reds have been struggling for the past couple of years, which epitomised in a final-day fight for survival.

They just about hung onto their Championship status on the final day last season but supporters down at the City Ground will be expecting much better during the upcoming campaign.

Additions will have to be made to improve the squad and there’s one man we think would do a real job for the Reds in the middle-of-the-park and that’s Leeds United man Kalvin Phillips.

Despite David Vaughan signing a new deal over the past couple of weeks, there’s been a real absence of quality in midfield for some time in the Forest ranks, something that would be heightened if they brought in young Phillips.

He’s a player that continues to divide the Leeds United faithful and moving forward, his long-term future at Elland Road is looking increasingly unclear as a result of the managerial change we’ve seen over the past week.

He’s a combative, ball-playing midfielder who’s not afraid to get stuck in but it’s safe to say he’s far from the finished package either.

He’s a player that needs time to continue his development but more than anything, he needs game-time with a group of players that is aiming to do well next season.

The Forest squad has been littered with deadwood for a while now and changes need to be made to see success brought back to the East Midlands.

He’s a young man worth considering for Mr Warburton, that’s for sure.
