The Championship is full of talent that is worthy of the Premier League and some of it will be playing there next season.

A lot of Championship players have gone on to do well there and many fans still remember Mahrez and Vardy playing in this league, and now they are the two centrepieces of Leicester's unbelievable title challenge in the Premier League.

Currently in the Championship it is Burnley who sit top of the league and are seven points clear of second placed Middlesbrough, who have Hull and Brighton in close company.

The goalscoring form of Andre Gray has been essential to the good form of Burnley who have also had a successful industrial midfield and a solid defence.

Middlesbrough have mainly been struggling on the goals front but the defence has been as rock solid as it was last season, thanks to Gibson and Ayala.

Hull are the only side with a better defence and they score more goals than Middlesbrough with Abel Hernandez being one of the best strikers in the division.

Some of the best attacking talent isn't just at the sides doing well with Ross McCormack currently keeping Fulham above the drop zone being testament to that.

Alan Judge has been carrying Brentford this season as well, as when Nick Blackman was carrying Reading until he left for Derby in January.

For the ultimate Championship XI you need the most potent strikeforce, the most solid defence and a good industrious/slash creative midfield to hold it all together.

GK - Tom Heaton (Burnley)

heaton5

The Burnley shot stopper has been solid ever since his debut for the club in 2013 and has made well over 100 appearances for the club.

His solid goalkeeping in his first season was vital to Burnley as they earned promotion to the Premier League in Dyche's first season.

Burnley had by far the best defence in the Championship that season with Heaton being a big part of it with some show stopping saves and organising his defence well.

There subsequent relegation a year after was disappointing but Heaton was one of the few bright sparks for them, and at one point there was talks of an England call up.

When they were relegated there was Premier League interest in him but he opted to stay and is now a big part of the team this season.

LB - Ben Mee (Burnley)

meeeeee

One of the most competitive categories but Mee just gets the nod over Middlesbrough's George Friend and Hull's Andrew Robertson.

He has made ell over 100 appearances since his debut in 2012 and the 26-year-old is experienced.

He was part of the best defence in the league when Burnley went up a few seasons ago and was fairly solid for Burnley in the following Premier League season.

He has been a real leader for Burnley this season as they try and secure an immediate return.

His goal against Huddersfield at the weekend showed is threat in the air and the goal sent Burnley seven points clear, and they will be difficult to catch in the run in.

CB - Michael Dawson (Hull)

dawsonnn

The Hull centre back is one of the most experienced players in the Championship having played for Tottenham in the Premier League and Champions League.

He also has four senior caps for England and since his move to Hull in 2014 he has made over 50 appearances.

He was one of there few consistent players last season when they were relegated from the Premier League.

The natural leader looks a class above at this level and it is under his leadership Hull are challenging for promotion, and his partnership at the back with Curtis Davies is currently the best in the league with only 20 goals conceded.

They are enduring a mini slump and players like Dawson need to come to the fold if they are to turn it around.

CB - Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough)

Daniel Ayala

The Middlesbrough centre back is seen by many as the best centre back in the league and is tipped for big things in the future.

Middlesbrough have sorely missed him this season as the slump seems to of coincided with Ayala's injury.

They will be praying he is fit for the crunch game with Hull on Friday as his partnership with fellow young centre back Ben Gibson is one of the most prolific in the division, Middlesbrough had the best defence in the season last year and the second best this year but many feel it would be the best if they weren't injured so much.

Ayala is good in the air and a threat from set pieces hassling defenders with his big frame.

Middlesbrough need him to return as when he and Gibson play together, Middlesbrough have never lost a league game.

RB - Moses Odubajo (Hull)

odubajoooo

The Hull right back is still young yet very experienced at Championship level.

He is only 22-years-old and after impressing for Leyton Orient, he earned a move to Championship side Brentford.

Not much was expected from Brentford but under Mark Warburton they became a serious threat, playing fast attacking football with wing backs Odubajo and Bidwell the feature.

His excellent ability going forward and in defence helped Brentford achieve a play-off place last season before they lost to Middlesbrough in the semi-finals.

The exodus at Brentford led to Odubajo leaving to join Hull in a big money move and he is part of the best defence in the league currently.

He has been solid defensively and proved an even better attacking outlet.

A player of undoubted Premier League class and he could be there with Hull next season.

CM - Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday)

bannannnn

For balance a Sheffield Wednesday player simply has to be involved, as they are having a terrific season under manager Carlos Carvahal and new owner Dejphon Chansiri.

They brought in a host of players in the transfer window with Bannan joining from Crystal Palace.

Wednesday also signed creative players like Fernando Forestieri and Lucas Joao as well as Gary Hooper and all of these signings have proved successful, with Wednesday currently consolidating a play-off place.

Bannan has been excellent in the middle of the park showcasing his excellent pace and movement.

He has been good attacking wise but has the work rate to defend as well - he has transformed the Wednesday midfield and scored an excellent goal against Forest at the weekend.

If he continues the form he is showing along with his teammates, a return to the Premier League could be imminent.

CM - Adam Clayton (Middlesbrough)

clayton78

The holding midfielder role was one of the most fiercely contested for this team, with Jake Livermore of Hull and Joey Barton of Burnley all proving rivals.

But ultimately Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton just nabs it.

The defensive two that sit in front of the back four for Middlesbrough were very important last season with Leadbitter and Clayton protecting the defence, and when Middlesbrough scored the first goal they rarely lost because of the two holding midfielders.

Clayton has stepped up his game this season with him finding more forward passes and assists, and has also protected the defence more when Ayala or Gibson is injured.

He has been a bit lacklustre of late with fans saying he passes the ball only sideways and backwards, but his class is undeniable with him winning Championship Player of the Month in January.

LM - Fernando Forestieri ( Sheffield Wednesday)

Fernando Forestieri3

The Sheffield Wednesday winger has been prolific for them this season since his summer move from Watford.

His 12 goals and five assists have been crucial for Wednesday this season, and his partnership with striker Gary Hooper proving fruitful.

His pace on the wing is matched by his technical ability on the ball and movement off it.

He can cut in from the wing and play up the front by himself.

He has been utilised excellently by Wednesday and despite diving  bit too much his pace and movement in the box has proved too much for most defenders this season.

His excellent goalscoring form for Wednesday this season has led them to a play-off place, as Wednesday fans start to really believe in their promotion bid.

CAM - Alan Judge (Brentford)

judge

Judge was part of an exciting revolution at Brentford last season, with the team jam packed full of attacking talent. Pritchard, Dallas, Jota and Judge terrorized defences as they linked up with main striker Andre Gray under the brilliant management of Mark Warburton.

They made the play-offs but suffered a big defeat to Middlesbrough and sadly there was a exodus in the summer.

Mark Warburton who was the architect was surprisingly let go to take charge of Rangers.

Gray left in a big money move to Burnley whilst Pritchard returned to Tottenham, Dallas went to Leeds and Douglas went to Ipswich.

Some poor managers later, and the club failed to replace these players and Brentford are struggling this season but Judge still remains at his brilliant best with 13 goals and a division high of 9 assists.

He is carrying Brentford and is attracting big money interest.

RM - Tom Ince (Derby)

inceeeee

For balance it is only right to have one of Derby's big money signings.

Mood is low at Derby but they do sit in the play-off places still with people assuming they will bottle it again.

After the sacking of Paul Clement as manager their form has got worst and if they are to stay in the play-offs, their big money signings need to step up fast.

Ince has been decent so far with his excellent pace and trickery bamboozling defenders from day one, but he needs to up his game if Derby are going to get promoted.

He was excellent at the end of last season scoring a lot of goals and assisting Chris Martin well.

ST - Andre Gray (Burnley)

gray635353

The Burnley striker cannot be left out with him being easily the top scorer in the Championship so far with him bagging 22 goals and seven assists.

He first came under our attention last season when he moved to Brentford from Luton and with the service of Jota, Pritchard and Judge, bagged 16 goals and helped them to a play-off place before they lost to Middlesbrough.

He moved to Burnley in the summer and has proven a hit so far.

At such a young age he certainly has a big future in the game - his big frame troubles defenders and also has good pace for a big man - the best player in the Championship so far this season.
