What a finish to a sensational season!

On the final weekend, we saw Burnley and Wigan's titles, Middlesbrough, Burton, Oxford and Bristol Rovers' promotions and even a few play-off and relegation places decided too.

Brighton looked like they were going to give 'Boro a good run for their money in the second half of their match, before goalscorer Dale Stephens was sent off for a challenge on Gaston Ramirez.

And in League Two, it looked like Accrington were going to sneak up despite a 0-0 draw, before Bristol Rovers scored a late, late winner in their match with Dagenham & Redbridge.

Despite Walsall's massive victory, in the end Burton had a little too much for the Saddlers to overturn. Barnsley also went into the play-offs in style with a massive victory at champions Wigan.

There's been drama, controversy and goals throughout the season, and let's not forget all the amazing individual pieces of talent.

Rather than just picking all Championship players, FLW's Ryan Evans is going to pick players that have had relatively good seasons compared to the division they played in, meaning this should be the ultimate XI from the whole of the Football League.

GK: Jon McLaughlin (Burton Albion)

Jon McLaughlin9999

The golden glove winner from League One, McLaughlin has 22 clean sheets from his 45 league matches, a highly impressive stat that has helped Burton to conceding just 37 goals all season, the best in the division, and there aren't many teams in the country with a better record than that.

He has seen his stock rise massively since a move from fellow promotion contenders Bradford, and at 28-years old has plenty of time left in his career, and is undoubtedly going to play a huge role in Burton's next campaign in the Championship.

DEF: Bruno (Brighton & Hove Albion)

brunoooo

The Spanish right-back has started every single game for Chris Hughton's side, and in total only missed out on 83 minutes of football all season. He was named in the PFA team of the year and has played a crucial role in Brighton's promotion bid so far.

The Albion captain has been at the club since 2012, and made just under 150 appearances for the Seagulls. His attacking presence cannot be underestimated, popping up almost every single time on the right-hand side. At 35-years old, he brings plenty of experience to the team, which is vital with the young team that he captains.

DEF: Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough)

Daniel AyalaDaniel Ayala

In my opinion, Ayala had to be in the running for player of the season, and therefore was an easy pick for this team, one of the first on the team sheet. He has 35 appearances to his name, and if it wasn't for injuries he would have started a lot more.

His partnership with Ben Gibson in the heart of the 'Boro defence has been key to their promotion winning campaign, and he's more than played his part; Aitor Karanka's men have only conceded 31 goals in their 46.

DEF: Michael Keane (Burnley)

keane762

Behind Ayala, there have been quite a few defenders on the same sort of level, Craig Dawson or perhaps Glenn Loovens are amongst them.

The one that I'm going to give the nod in this ultimate XI is Michael Keane. Whilst at Manchester United, he had loans at Leicester, Derby and Blackburn, before finally finding home after a spell at Turf Moor.

He joined for the latter half of Burnley's Premier League campaign, and fit perfectly into their side coming into this season. The 23-year old also has five goals for the Clarets, his last two being crucial in the draws with Brighton and 'Boro that helped secure this sensational campaign.

With 16 England Under-21 caps, don't be surprised to see him walking out at Wembley in the not too distant future.

DEF: George Friend (Middlesbrough)

friendddd

The outstanding left-back in the whole of the Football League all season has been Friend, but due to injury has been limited to 39 starts for the Teessiders.

He's barely had a bad game all season, which is credit to him, and at 28-years old, is in the prime of his career just as 'Boro make it to the top flight.

Born in Barnstaple, North Devon, Friend's career started at Exeter before moves to Wolves and Doncaster. He signed for Middlesbrough in 2012, making over 150 appearances.

MID: Alan Judge (Brentford)

Alan JudgeAlan Judge

The midfielder was in most people's teams of the season and came third place in the players' player of the season award in the Championship. With 14 goals and 11 assists to his name, Judge is amongst the top players in each of those categories, and has been the stand out player for the Bees.

Unfortuantely, as we all know, he suffered that horrible injury not too long ago, which will cause him to miss much of next season and, crucially, the European Championship with Ireland. Hopefully we'll see him strutting his stuff again towards the end of the season, as he is such a good player to watch.

MID: Bradley Dack (Gillingham)

dack33

Whilst Gillingham's season tailed off dramatically, finishing outside of the play-off spots, Dack's went from strength to strength, culminating in him being named League One's player of the season. In total, he's managed 13 goals and 11 assists, and is likely to attract plenty of Championship attention this summer.

The 22-year old has been at the Gills for his entire career, making in excess of 125 appearances, and has been the talisman in Justin Edinburgh's team.

MID: Joey Barton (Burnley)

joey bartonman

There can't be a team of the season without this man in. Barton's transfer to the Clarets was widely second-guessed by many at the start of the campaign, but it has come off as one of the deals of the season.

The 33-year old has appeared in 38 games this term, scoring three and setting up two. However, his main priority has been to anchor the midfield, and his distribution and tackling have been a major part of the reason why Burnley have found themselves winning the league.

MID: Kemar Roofe (Oxford United)

kemar roofekemar roofe00

League Two's player of the season has been involved in 27 goals, with only a few players being able to claim more than that. Not only that, but he has been able to play both as a midfielder and a striker, and his versatility will only add to people's opinions of him.

The 23-year old started out at West Bromwich Albion, before signing for the U's last summer after a loan spell at the Kassam Stadium. He has put in many magical performances throughout the course of the season, including scoring twice against Swansea in the FA Cup, and his first career hat-trick against Dagenham & Redbridge in March.

For those reason, Roofe was simply a dead cert in this team.

ST: Andre Gray (Burnley)

graygraych

Gray has 25 goals and 9 assists to his name this season, and after an impressive season at Brentford last time out, cemented his name as one of the Championship's most prolific.

He averages a goal every 141 minutes, or roughly a goal every one-and-a-half games, the best ratio in the league. The 24-year old first made his mark on the game on loan at Luton Town in 2012, before signing permanently. He then fired them to promotion to League Two, scoring 30 league goals in the process. It was no surprised to see the England C international snapped up by a second tier team, where he then helped the Bees to the play-offs.

Winning Burnley promotion, he will definitely fit well amongst the Premier League, so don't be surprised if the Clarets stay up based on Gray's goals.

ST: Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers)

Matty TaylorMatty Taylor

The Bristol Rovers striker scored 20 goals in the Conference last year to help his side bounce straight back up after relegation, and his 27 league goals this time around have helped them secure back-to-back promotions.

No one expected Rovers to be anywhere near the play-offs, let alone secure automatic promotion on the final day of the season. Taylor has since been linked with moves to a variety of League One and Championship clubs, but may want to stay at the Memorial, as they stand a good chance of competing with the sides already there.
