With a hefty pre-season ahead for the newly-promoted Championship side Sheffield United, which includes two tough Yorkshire derbies against Chesterfield and Rotherham, a trip over to Malaga, as well as hosting Premier League club Stoke City at Bramall Lane, Chris Wilder will get a good indication of how far his squad has grown during these matches.

Whilst, Wilder has already signed five new first team players, including Ched Evans, George Baldock and Richard Stearman, who all need game time to be able to adapt to the Blades way of football, it would be smart for Wilder to also introduce a few academy prospects to the first team.

United are known for producing some phenomenal talent through their youth ranks, with the likes of Kyle Walker, Matthew Lowton and Harry Maguire, all coming through their academy, which may signify that Wilder has some raw talent in his academy that he has yet called up.
