There's a big element of doom and gloom around Nottingham Forest at the moment, as their hopes of reaching the play-offs have drifted away over the last couple of weeks.

The decision to bring in former Ireland manager Martin O'Neill appears to not have worked quite like the Forest board might have envisaged when they set their legendary former player on, and it once again looks like being a long summer for Reds fans.

Whether or not the club decide to keep O'Neill or not remains a question unanswered, but one thing is for sure again in that we don't expect it to be a quiet transfer window at the City Ground, something which has become the norm over the last few windows it has to be said.

However, all is not lost for Forest on every front, as they once again have some exciting young talent within the first-team squad, with the likes of Arvin Appiah and Ryan Yates just two players who are making a big impression already and will be looking to next season as their big chance.

In Appiah, the Reds have a speedy winger who can also play up front, and at just 18-years-old, there is so much excitement surrounding the youngster that it's hard for Forest not be optimistic about just how good he can be.

Yates on the other hand has been given more opportunities so far than Appiah, and has impressed in the main when given that chance.

The 21-year-old, who again is a player comfortable playing across any attacking position really, has really got Forest fans out of their seats at times, and he looks to be someone who the club might look to build around going into next season and beyond.

While this season might be over for them in terms of landing a top six spot, Forest fans should be pleased that their club is still producing talent, something which has become synonymous with the two-time European champions over the last decade or two.

Forest will bounce back, and while the board face some big decisions over the summer, Yates and Appiah give Reds fans everywhere cause to keep believing in their club.
