Aston Villa have strung together a trio of back-to-back wins that have thrust them firmly into play-off contention, with Dean Smith's side currently in eighth place, just two points off the final play-off place ahead of the weekend visit of promotion rivals Middlesbrough.

Smith now has nine matches remaining to make a final push and with matches against Bristol City, Leeds United and Norwich City to come, it very much looks like this will go right down to the wire.

So can Villa make the Championship play-offs?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"Absolutely.

"With Grealish back in the side they are looking very very strong again and with just two points separating them at the moment there is a real chance.

"But there are plenty of others continuing to chase down that spot so they will need to keep their consistency."

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes, absolutely.

“I wouldn’t have said that a few weeks ago, but the turnaround has been remarkable.

“What a time to hit form. Most the teams inside the top six are stuttering, what a story it would be if Villa went up.”

Jay Taylor

“They have every chance.

“Only two points off Derby, they have momentum on their side, and I would be surprised now if they don’t make it to the play-offs.

“If they keep performing the way they are, then Villa should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.”
