Leeds United enjoyed a busy winter transfer window, with a raft of players arriving at Elland Road over the course of the month.

Players were signed for positions in need of strengthening, with the club also adopting a strong emphasis upon adding quality to their U23 side through the addition of several promising talents.

The Whites have been in poor form as of late however, and fans are beginning to grow increasingly nervous over their side’s ability to secure a top six finish this season.

With ill discipline a problem and a lack of quality in the midfield and in attack, many will feel that the club failed to address these issues in the January market, with the following the biggest mistakes of their transfer window…

Too forward thinking

Forward thinking and planning for the future is a necessity at any club, but have the Whites taken this too far in the current transfer window?

Multiple additions for the youth squad were added and Japanese midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi was brought in but instantly loaned out to Cultural Leonesa, and fans have been left extremely disappointed that more attention was not made upon improving the first-team squad with immediate effect.

The club needed ready-made stars to come in and ensure they reached the top six this season, and apart from Adam Forshaw, which was a quality signing, manager Thomas Christiansen has failed to do this.

Not acquiring a proven goalscorer

Leeds have may splashed the cash to bring Tyler Roberts to the club, but the 19-year-old former West Brom striker isn’t the player Leeds needs to secure a top six finish.

Roberts has never played consistent football above League One level, and his form in the third tier hardly marked him as a prolific goalscorer.

With Forshaw brought in to pull the strings in midfield, Leeds needed to go out and land a forward who would consistently find the back of the net on a regular basis, but failed to do so.
