Goals certainly haven’t been a problem from Accrington Stanley so far during the 2017/18 campaign, with John Coleman’s side scoring 11 goals from their five fixtures across all competitions so far.

Kayden Jackson has been in excellent goalscoring form in Sky Bet League Two, scoring four goals from three appearances, helping Accrington to sixth in the table after three fixtures of the season.

However, Accrington have moved to bolster their strikeforce, bringing Mallik Wilks to the Crown Ground on a short-term loan from Championship outfit, Leeds United.

Wilks has only one game of senior football under his belt, but is highly thought of at Leeds, with many at Elland Road believing one day he will gain a proper opportunity in the first-team.

Here at FLW, we believe that the 18-year-old has what it takes to help Accrington compete for promotion in League Two, with the striker arriving with a point to prove on what will be his first opportunity of first-team football.

The young striker has made enough of an impact in Leeds’ under-23 side to earn an extension on his senior contract with the club, and given the opportunity of regular football at a lower level, he can thrive.

As with most young players, it will take Wilks time to settle into his new surroundings, with the physicality of League Two something that the striker will not be used to.

But once he settles and finds his feet in the division, he will score goals if given the opportunity in the first-team by Coleman.

Accrington’s start to the season has been strong, and we believe Wilks will only make them stronger going forward.
