West Brom are enjoying an encouraging start to the season, with the Baggies sitting top of the Championship table despite drawing their last two matches at the Hawthorns last week.

Slaven Bilic's side have been one of the Championship's best teams going forwards so far, with West Brom scoring an impressive 24 goals in their opening 14 matches, which means the Baggies have the second best offensive record in the league, with only second placed Preston North End scoring more frequently.

A key part of that has been the form of winger Grady Diangana, who has managed to score four goals and register three assists so far this term for West Brom, and the attacker who arrived at the Hawthorns on loan from Premier League West Ham United has produced vital moments of quality to help secure points for Bilic's side.

However, West Ham have not yet ruled out the prospect of recalling Diangana from his loan spell at the Hawthorns in the January transfer window, which means the Baggies like last season with Harvey Barnes could face the prospect of losing a vital component of their attack in January.

Bilic would almost certainly have to find a replacement for Diangana were he to leave the club in the window, and although West Brom could go into the market and buy another option to operate down the sides of their attack it will be difficult to find the best option in January, with clubs charging a premium for their players in the winter window.

Therefore, West Brom could consider recalling one of their own loanees, with Jonathan Leko currently enjoying a very productive loan spell at Charlton Athletic, helping Lee Bowyer's side produce a strong start to life back in the Championship following their promotion from League One last season.

Leko has been a vital figure at the Valley so far this season, making 12 appearances and he has been utilised both out on the wing and also as a second striker at times, with his pace and dribbling ability a real outlet for Bowyer's side on the counter-attack.

The 20-year-old is showing increased maturity this season and a willingness to do the defensive work down the flanks, which is something Bowyer demands of his players if they are going to remain part of his starting line-up, whilst also helping to provide quality in the final third, with Leko registering two goals and two assists so far for Charlton this campaign.

It would therefore not be the worst option for West Brom to recall the attacker in the January transfer window, were they to lose Diangana, and although Bilic would probably rather allow Leko more time to develop his game at Charlton with the regular game time he is receiving, if the Baggies can not find a suitable affordable replacement in the winter window then they could turn to the 20-year-old.

Leko has already shown so far this season that he is ready to make an impact at Championship level, and he would return to the Hawthrons full of belief and confidence that he can establish himself as a key part of the Baggies' first team - and the option of a recall for him is certainly something Bilic should consider if Diangana leaves the club.
