It's been a tough season for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, who were beaten in the play-offs by Huddersfield Town last week.

The Owls had been competing at the top of the table for most of the campaign but when it came to doing the business at the highest level, they didn't have quite enough left in the tank to beat the impressive-looking Terriers.

And moving forward, it's another season of second-tier football for Carvalhal and he'll be looking to get up the table early on when the Championship kicks off again in August.

One area we think the Owls struggled in throughout the majority of this season is in midfield and having real power when it comes to breaking through opposition defences, whilst protecting their own.

And one man we think would be a superb addition to the squad is £1.7million-rated midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld, who has impressed during his time at the club over the past couple of years.

The former Groningen man brings a real element of solidity to the Blues midfield and whilst the Dutchman doesn't possess a huge amount of skill or pace, he's a player that isn't at all afraid to put himself about and get stuck in.

When the going gets tough, he's a cracking option to have in the squad and one the Blues faithful have really come to admire.

But should the likes of Wednesday move for him and submit a good offer, he's a player that certainly could be on the move, especially considering the changes of management we've seen at St Andrews in recent months.
