Coventry City will be looking to extend their advantage at the top of the League One standings this weekend when they head to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town.

The Sky Blues leapfrogged promotion rivals Rotherham United last weekend in the third-tier after defeating Sunderland 1-0 at St Andrew's.

In what turned out to a highly competitive clash, Matt Godden's 14th goal of the season sealed all three points for Coventry in-front of their supporters.

With 13 games left to play this season, the Sky Blues find themselves in a commanding position to secure a return to the Championship in May and thus will be determined to build upon their recent upturn in form this weekend.

Here, using statistics from WhoScored, we reveal Coventry's top EIGHT tacklers this season...

Signed by Coventry last summer from Ayr United, Michael Rose has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign for Mark Robins' side.

During the 30 league games that he has played for the Sky Blues, the defender has averaged 1.1 tackles per game.

Another one of the Sky Blues' summer additions, Wesley Jobley averaged 1.2 tackles per game before picking a serious knee injury in October.

Set to miss the remainder of the campaign, the winger will be hoping to recover in time for the start of the 2020/21 season.

Currently on loan at Coventry from Aston Villa, Callum O'Hare has emerged as a key player for the club in recent months.

As well as providing 11 direct goal contributions in all competitions, the midfielder has illustrated his defensive capabilities by averaging 1.7 tackles per game.

Since joining the Sky Blues on a temporary basis from Bristol City, Liam Walsh has set to the third-tier alight at times with his performances.

Currently averaging 1.8 tackles per game, the midfielder will be looking to build upon this particular statistic between now and the end of the season.

An ever-present in the heart of Coventry's midfield in recent months, Liam Kelly has formed a fruitful partnership with Walsh.

During the 26 appearances that he has made in League One, the 30-year-old has averaged two tackles per game.

Set to join Norwich City following the culmination of the current campaign, Sam McCallum has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in the third-tier over the past few months.

Coventry's first-choice left-back, the 19-year-old has averaged two tackle per game for the club so far this season.

Since joining the Sky Blues on a free transfer last summer, Fankaty Dabo has taken League One by storm with his outstanding displays.

Currently averaging 2.3 tackles per game, the defender will be aiming to inspire his side to promotion in May by continuing to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

According to WhoScored, Coventry's best tackler this season has been Brandon Mason who is averaging 3.4 challenges per game.

Whilst the 22-year-old is currently an understudy for fellow full-back McCallum, he will be determined to force his way into Robins' plans for the future with his team-mate is due to depart this summer for Carrow Road.
