Newcastle United are a massive football club who are able to attract a very high quality of player and that is reflected in their wage bill.

Steve Bruce’s side might only need a few more wins to secure their place in the Premier League for next season which will bring in a sizeable amount of money for the club to attack the transfer window with. The club have the facilities to attract world class players as well as the fanbase, but in recent years they have refused to part ways with cash.

The club broke their transfer record for an incoming player last summer when they prised Joelinton away from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. Their previous transfer record stood for almost 15 years with the club not paying a fee higher than the fee that was involved to sign Michael Owen from Real Madrid in 2005.

Here are the FIVE biggest earners at Newcastle United, according to Capology...

Although it isn’t confirmed how much of Danny Rose’s wage that Newcastle are paying, the England international will command a big wage. Rose is a player who has consistently qualified for Europe’s elite club competitions which a club like Newcastle would love to play in. You also have factor in that Bruce needed a left back following Jetro Willems’ injury and Rose has proved a handy replacement for the Dutchman.

Arriving from Nice in the French league in the summer, Saint-Maximin has certainly been a highlight of Newcastle’s season. The Frenchman has often been relied on by his teammates to create something and drag them through a game, Oxford United in the FA Cup being a perfect example of his growing influence. His wage implies that the club's hierarchy see the French winger as one of the most valuable members of their current squad.

Shelvey has recently signed a new deal with the Toon, worth £70,000 a week for the former Liverpool midfielder. Shelvey has been a mainstay in the Newcastle midfield since his arrival from Swansea City in 2016, helping the club achieve instant promotion by winning the Championship table. He has taken the step back into the Premier League well, making 17 appearances for Bruce’s side this season.

The club finally broke their transfer record to bring in the Brazilian from Hoffenheim for a reported £40m, but the striker has failed to recapture his impressive Bundesliga from during his spell at Newcastle. He has scored just one goal in 29 appearances in the Premier League which suggests he is struggling to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League. But a player who arrives on a club-record fee, they will demand to be one of the highest paid players at the club, which Joelinton certainly is.

Like Rose before him, Bentaleb is currently on loan from German side Schalke 04 until the end of the season having previously had Premier League experience with Tottenham, where we would play in continental competitions. Although he is on the highest wage at the club, it has not confirmed if Newcastle are paying his full wage or if his parent club are making a significant weekly contribution.
