The Championship is an extremely passionate division, with a phenomenal chance to climb up to the upper echelons of English football - the Premier League.

The league has some absolutely astonishing fans, who make a fantastic noise and travel up and down the country in their numbers, some numbers much, much larger than others.

Everyone in the 72 compete to be the best fanbase; it's a common occurrence on social media where you see supporters exclaim that "we would have took more", and "we are the bigger club".

And after years of debating, it's very, very hard to put a finger on who really are THE best fans in the Sky Bet Championship.

But here at Football League World, we think we have cracked it, we really think that we have discovered who really are the greatest, most passionate and most loudest fans in the division.

Here, from number 5 to number 1, FLW writer George Harbey names the BEST fans in the Championship...

5) Birmingham City

In 5th place is Birmingham City.

The St. Andrews' faithful have experienced it all in the last few years, from winning the League Cup against Arsenal in the last minute, thanks to an Obafemi Martins strike, relegation to the Premier League, and a last gasp equaliser from Paul Caddis against Bolton Wanderers to avoid relegation to League One in 2014.

And many fans would agree that St. Andrews is a fantastic yet intimidating place to go, the powerful rendition of 'Keep Right On' must make the hairs stand up on the body.

It's not just home support, the Bluenoses follow the team up and down the country in their numbers, and are definitely a passionate group of fans.

4) Aston Villa

In 4th place, ahead of their bitter rivals, is Aston Villa.

It's been a torrid last few seasons for the Villa Park crowd, and last term was a dismal time to say the least, which eventually culminated in relegation to the second tier.

But one thing that has remained clear and untouched, unlike the players on the pitch, is the Villa fans' passion and desire for the club, with the magnificent noise they create inside Villa Park.

The Holte End is usually packed to the rafters, and Villans across the UK travel in huge fashion, taking over 4000 fans on four occasions already this term.

3) Sheffield Wednesday

Hillsborough is an intimidating place to go to say the least.

The Kop is always a colossal wall of blue and white, and the fanfare creates a stunning atmosphere, and one can't imagine what the crowds would have been like if the Owls were to seal promotion to the Premier League last term.

Carlos Carvalhal has created a squad that has gone from bottom half strugglers to strong promotion contenders in just a couple of years at the helm, and backed by thousands of Wednesday fans week in week out across the country, Sheffield Wednesday will be a force to be reckoned with this campaign.

2) Leeds United

Often, teams get huge numbers at home AND away from home, yet generate very little noise.

This cannot be said for Leeds United.

Wherever they go, no matter how much they may boast about it sometimes, for a club who have been plagued with financial unrest and midtable mediocrity for the last few years, Leeds' support is a massive credit to the club.

Elland Road always makes up for a boisterous atmosphere, and there is no doubt in my mind that with their support and tremendous away followings, Garry Monk will finally take Leeds back up to the top flight...

1) Newcastle United

Clinching top spot is Rafa Benitez' Newcastle United.

When the Magpies were relegated to the second tier last term, it came as a great shock to many as to why a huge club like Newcastle found themselves in such difficulty on AND off the pitch.

But this season, as expected, the Geordies have took the league by storm, and sit top of the table as we approach November.

With the fortress St. James' Park reaching gates of 50,000 week in week out, a Championship record, typifies how Newcastle United, truly have the best fans in the EFL Championship.

So...What do you think? Who really have the best fans in the Championship? Who would make your top 5 list? Would you agree that Newcastle have the greatest fans in the division? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
