Derby County are 8th in the Championship after a relatively pleasing start to life in management for Frank Lampard.

The ex-England and Chelsea great is growing into his role at Derby and is enjoying his early experiences in management.

For Derby, the last four or five years have been dominated with the tendency to build up to nothing.

The Rams have tended to start firing on all cylinders, and then tail off towards the business end of the season.

Lampard will be hoping the opposite happens this year: his side defeated Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in fantastic fashion on penalties, however this has masked the fact that Derby have won just one game in the last six league outings.

The recruitment overall at Derby has been questionable, but some players that they have signed have proved to be excellent business.

Here at FLW, we look at the top 3 signings in the last 3 seasons for Derby…

In third place is new loan signing Mason Mount. It may be a strange option, noting the fact he is only on loan and has only been at the club for a matter of months.

Despite this, Lampard tempted one of the most sought after players in English football to Derby. Mount recently was called up to the England senior side ahead of the UEFA Nations League matches, and this is testament to his performances at Derby.

Tom Huddlestone is Mr. Derby. After starting at the Pride Park club, Huddlestone went on to have a decent Premier League career with Tottenham and Hull City.

He came back to Derby in 2017 and has been a mainstay in the midfield ever since. At age 31, Huddlestone is able to dictate the tempo of play and excels both in possession.

Tom Lawrence tops the list. The talented midfielder was in-demand from a number of clubs, including some Premier League sides.

He is far from the finished product yet, and has more to offer, but Lawrence is starting to affect games more regularly.

He was one of three Derby players to play in the Wales v Ireland game in the Nations League this week, where Harry Wilson excelled.
