Birmingham City are 17th in the Championship table going into match day 13 of the season.

Garry Monk’s side are the draw specialists of the division, having collected a point in eight games from the opening 12.

You can put a positive or negative spin on this: the Blues are evidently solid at the back, having conceded just 12 goals, but are poor in front of goal and struggle to win.

If Birmingham can start turning these draws into wins, they may start to surge up the table.

Next up for Garry Monk’s men is a trip to a tough Stoke City side who are starting to put a decent run of form together.

The problem for Birmingham in the last year or so is the lack of investment in the first team.

Maxime Colin makes the third place in this list. The Frenchman joined the club from Brentford in 2017 and was a shrewd piece of business.

The full-back is a regular for Birmingham and boasts impressive consistency, making him a fan favourite.

Harlee Dean also joined the club from Brentford and is now a first team regular in the Birmingham defence.

The 27-year-old is the man that Monk trusts in most big games at the back and is second place in the list of Birmingham’s best business in recent years.

Jota has been linked away from the club with many clubs such as Sheffield United reportedly interested in securing his services in January.

Jota has scored one goal and set up four for the Blues so far this term, and is a key creative outlet.

Despite Birmingham’s lack of the ability to win matches, Jota is normally the one to drive them to points and he is the best piece of business Birmingham have done in the last few seasons.
