Over the last few years, a number of Derby County youngsters have broken into the first-team and really caught the eye at Pride Park.

Under Frank Lampard, the likes of Jayden Bogle, Max Lowe and Mason Bennett came to the fore and become regulars for the Rams.

The following season, under Phillip Cocu, the likes of Louie Sibley, Lee Buchanan and Jason Knight were the next ones to step up, and they have all become key players for the club since.

Wayne Rooney has followed on from Cocu in the sense that young players will always get a chance, no matter the situation they find themselves in. Louie Watson has recently been given his debut, and could be the next to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Will Hughes and Bogle.

At the other end of the spectrum, Derby have a lot of experienced players at the club. Who are the oldest players to have ever featured for the Rams?

Here, we take a look at the top 10...

Kicking off our list is none other than Robbie Savage.

Savage spent three years at Pride Park after joining from Blackburn Rovers in 2008. He was unable to help prevent them from being relegated from the Premier League, but was a mainstay in the Championship for the next two years.

Savage racked up over 120 league appearances for the Rams in total, before leaving in 2011.

In his last appearance for Derby - a 2-1 defeat to Reading in Berkshire - he was aged 36 years, 6 months and 19 days old.

Another player who featured in the Premier League's worst ever side is Alan Stubbs.

Stubbs was brought in from Everton in January 2008, as Derby looked to add a bit of experience to their squad in their bid to survive the drop.

But he was unable to help them do so, and early into the 2008/09 campaign, he was forced to retire from football due to a recurring knee problem.

His last appearance came in August 2008 in a 1-0 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers, where he was aged 36 years, 10 months and 3 days old.

Taylor was a great servant for Derby.

He joined the club from Aston Villa in 2003 and was instantly made captain. He scored 12 goals for Derby as they narrowly avoided the drop from the First Division in 2003/04.

The following season, he was a regular as Derby reached the play-off semi-finals as they were defeated by Preston North End. He was released at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.

His last appearance, as mentioned before, was against Preston in the play-offs, aged 36 years, 11 months and 15 days old.

Dickov comes in at number seven on our list.

The experienced forward joined Derby on loan from Leicester City in August 2009, and he played regularly due to an injury crisis at Pride Park.

Dickov ended up scoring two goals in 16 games for Derby before his loan deal expired in January, and he returned to Leicester before having his contract cancelled in a bid to find a new club.

His final appearance came in 2009 in a Boxing Day defeat to Blackpool, aged 37 years, 1 month and 24 days old.

Holdsworth spent time at Derby both as a player and as an assistant manager.

He had previously been at Havant and Waterlooville as well as Rushden and Diamonds, but joined the club as assistant manager in 2005/06.

He did feature three times for the club during an injury crisis, though, making three league appearances for the Rams.

At the time, he was 37 years, 2 months and 20 days old in a 3-1 defeat to Colchester United back in January 2006.

He left the club after Phil Brown was relieved of his duties.

Moving into the top five is Rob Lee, the father of Olly and Elliot.

The former Newcastle midfielder signed for Derby in 2002, but was unable to prevent them from falling into the First Division in 2001/02.

He was later sold to West Ham United having racked up 48 league appearances for Derby, scoring two goals.

He finished his career with Wycombe Wanderers after a brief spell at Oldham Athletic.

In his final appearance for Derby - a 4-1 home defeat to Ipswich - he was 37 years, 3 months and 2 days old.

Narrowly missing out on the top three podium is Paul McGrath.

McGrath joined Derby from Aston Villa in 1996, helping the newly promoted Rams finish 12th in the Premier League.

He then dropped down a division to play for Sheffield United, having made 24 league outings for the Rams in total.

The former Republic of Ireland international made his final appearance for Derby in 1997 in a 3-1 home defeat to Arsenal.

He was 37 years, 5 months and 7 days old at the time.

Moving into the top three, and perhaps the famous name on the whole list, Ashley Cole.

Cole reunited with Frank Lampard in 2019, joining Derby in the second half of the campaign to provide competition for Scott Malone at left-back.

He scored in a FA Cup defeat to Brighton and played nine times in the Championship as the Rams lost to Aston Villa in the play-off final at Wembley.

Cole left the club at the end of that season, with Lampard becoming the new manager of his former club Chelsea.

Cole's final appearance came in that play-off final, aged 38 years, 5 months and 7 days old.

We're going back a long way here. Missing out on top spot is former Derby goalkeeper Peter Shilton.

Shilton joined Derby from Southampton in 1987, having lifted two European Cups with Nottingham Forest less than a decade before.

Shilton went on to have five seasons at Derby, before leaving for Plymouth Argyle in 1992.

His last appearance for Derby came in a huge 7-1 defeat to Liverpool in March 1991, aged 41 years, 6 months and 5 days old.

Derby's oldest ever player is another goalkeeper in Kevin Poole.

Poole joined Derby under Phil Brown in the summer of 2005, initially becoming Derby's goalkeeping coach.

He was unexpectedly installed as first-choice goalkeeper, though, amid Lee Camp and Lee Grant's poor run of form for the Rams.

He ended up playing seven times for Derby before returning to coaching duties, and was released at the end of the season.

His last appearance for Derby came in a 2-1 home win over Burnley in January 2006, aged 42 years, 5 months and 17 days old.
