Queens Park Rangers will be aiming to have a good summer transfer window as they look to keep the momentum from the 20/21 season in the Sky Bet Championship.

They've certainly made a good enough start to that, with Sam Field and Jordy de Wijs making their spells permanent in recent times and it just remains to be seen whether Charlie Austin and Stefan Johansen follow suit, before Rangers obviously also look for some other players to add to the side.

Here, though, we're looking at past Queens Park Rangers and, particularly, the best English ones to have featured in the last 20 years.

For clarity, we're going off their careers as a whole and not just their time at QPR. So it could be the case that some players are higher than others that arguably had more success when they were just at the Hoops.

Here's how we've ranked them...

Shaun Derry kicks off our list for the part he played in helping Queens Park Rangers getting into the Premier League 10 years ago from the season just finished.

He was a real leader down the spine of Neil Warnock's side and, in fairness, was one of several key vocal players that really helped the Hoops rise to the top of the league in that particular campaign.

He was never afraid to get involved in the physical battle and he became a real cult hero during his time at Rangers, with spells at the likes of Crystal Palace also achieved in his career.

Clint Hill is up next with him of similar levels to Derry when it comes to leading by example and winning his own personal battles on the pitch.

Hill was a rock at the centre of defence alongside Latvian Kaspars Gorkss during the title winning campaign of 2010/11 and will always be remembered for those performances where he put his body on the line.

He was at Queens Park Rangers for several years and also played for the likes of Glasgow Rangers during his playing days.

Joey Barton didn't always attract good headlines during his playing career but he was still a footballer that largely played at the top level and did for Queens Park Rangers during his time out on the pitch.

He was also a part of the side that enjoyed a successful play-off campaign as Bobby Zamora went on to score the famous winner against Derby at Wembley so, overall, Barton's time at QPR was pretty successful.

He's now manager at Bristol Rovers.

Kevin Gallen had more than one spell at QPR and it's his time between 2001 and 2007 at the club that gets him in on this list.

Arguably, if you're looking purely at time at QPR, he'd be even higher up but, as mentioned earlier, we're looking at a player's whole career.

Even so, Gallen had a good time of things during his playing days with him becoming a real modern hero for Rangers, regularly finding the net and helping them achieve promotion from the third tier along the way.

Ebere Eze is up next and by the end of his career he could be even higher on this list in all fairness.

A move to the Premier League always looked likely for Eze and he earned that in switching to Crystal Palace, where he has quickly proven a hit.

Clearly, he's set for a good career in the top flight but he'll have to wait a while before kicking on any further with a long-term injury being picked up towards the end of this season.

He'll be focusing on recovery now, then, but once he's back he'll no doubt delight Eagles fans again.

Bobby Zamora's Queens Park Rangers career can be summed up with one goal and that alone gives him huge credit on this list.

His strike in the 13/14 play-off final right at the death against Derby sent QPR up and fans into raptures at Wembley.

Of course, it was towards the end of his career and he's probably better known for his time with the likes of West Ham United and Fulham but he spent most of his playing days at the top level and deserves praise for regularly being a threat in the Premier League.

Charlie Austin is a player QPR fans love and one that they'll be hoping will return for next season on a more permanent basis from West Bromwich Albion.

The striker has had his fair share of injury problems in his career but when he has played he's regularly delivered goals for whichever side he's been employed by.

He's been a Premier League goal-scorer for the likes of Southampton and if he can help Rangers win promotion next season he'll surely go down as a club legend if he isn't already.

Peter Crouch wasn't at Queens Park Rangers long with him there just between 2000 and 2001 as a young player and that means he just sneaks into this list.

He did, though, go on to have a fine career with him making the Premier League 100 goals club as well as featuring for England on the international stage.

Notable spells came at Liverpool, Tottenham, Portsmouth and Southampton during arguably his most prolific years whilst a huge spell at Stoke City also followed between 2011 and 2019.

He finished his career at Burnley.

Kyle Walker spent a brief period on loan during the 10/11 season and he has gone on to be one of the best full-backs in the country.

His time at Spurs saw him really kick on and improve as a player but he wanted to leave to try and win trophies and that is where Manchester City came in.

He's won several Premier League titles among other trophies since moving to Manchester and has a shot at winning the Champions League later this month against Chelsea before heading to the European Championships with England.

Rio Ferdinand rounds off our list.

The defender's time at Queens Park Rangers obviously wasn't the most successful as he came towards the end of his career but you cannot forget what a great defender he was during his playing days.

A regular for Manchester United during one of their several eras of dominance in the Premier League, he forged an iconic partnership with Nemanja Vidic with him also racking up the appearances for England on the international stage.

One of the top modern centre-backs of the last 20 years and, for his whole career, deservedly top of this pile.
