When it comes to player turnover, Nottingham Forest are no strangers to it.

In 2020/21, Forest made a total of 17 signings over the course of the season, and it promises to be another busy summer for the club in the transfer window.

Five loan players - Cyrus Christie, Anthony Knockaert, Filip Krovinovic, Luke Freeman and James Garner - have returned to their parent clubs, and there are also seven players out of contract who aren't set to be offered new deals.

But Forest have three loanees returning from impressive spells in League One raring to go and make a mark in the Reds' first-team under Chris Hughton; Jordan Gabriel, Brennan Johnson and Tyrese Fornah.

Johnson has featured for Wales this season and made his international debut earlier this campaign, but in terms of Englishmen, who are the best to have played for Forest in the last 20 years?

Here, we look at the top 10 best English players to have played for Forest since 2000...

Luke Chambers is a player who divided opinions amongst Forest fans.

The defender arrived from Northampton Town in 2007, reuniting with Colin Calderwood as Forest won promotion.

He operated at both centre-half and right-back during his time at the City Ground, making 225 appearances across all competitions for the Reds.

He won the club's Player of the Year award in 2011, leaving for Ipswich Town in 2012.

In 2010/11, he scored six goals from the heart of defence which showed just how much of a threat he was in both boxes.

Lansbury may not be the most popular name amongst Forest fans nowadays, but it's fair to say that he was such a key player for Forest during the majority of his spell at the City Ground.

The midfielder made 150 appearances for the Reds in total, scoring 33 goals and adding 20 assists which is a decent return.

He was a regular source of goals from the heart of midfield, which is something that Forest have been greatly lacking in the last year or two.

He's now a free agent after flattering to deceive at Aston Villa and then Bristol City, and is perhaps a shadow of the player he was once.

But it's hard to forget the goals and assists Lansbury chipped in for the Reds.

It has been a poor season by Joe Lolley's standards, but it's hard to ignore the impact he has made since joining from Huddersfield Town.

In his first full season at the City Ground in 2018/19, Lolley scored 11 goals and added 11 assists in a season which ultimately fizzled out under Martin O'Neill.

Last season he scored nine goals and added nine assists in a season where the narrowly missed out on a play-off finish under Sabri Lamouchi.

Injuries have been frustrating for him this season, but for two of the three full seasons he has been at Forest, the Reds have had one of the best wingers in the Championship.

That shouldn't be forgotten.

Bennett was a great servant to Forest, and he won the Player of the Year award after Forest won promotion from League One in 2008.

The defender made 34 appearances that season, scoring four goals and producing a string of impressive performances from left-back.

Injuries hampered his career and cut his time as a footballer short, but it's hard to forget about the season he had.

If Forest hadn't gone up that season, then it is doubtful whether they would have stayed in League One for more years under Colin Calderwood.

McGugan's technical ability wowed many Forest supporters during his time at the City Ground.

Born in Long Eaton, the midfielder made his debut as a 16-year-old in a Football League Trophy win at Gillingham as a substitute.

McGugan, in total, made 224 appearances for the Reds, scoring 43 goals and registering 27 assists.

In fairness, he did go slightly off the boil towards the end of his time at Forest, before moves to Watford and Sheffield Wednesday materialised.

His best season came in 2010/11, where he scored 13 goals and added 15 assists as Forest made the play-offs before missing out on a place in the final.

Worrall has come up leaps and bounds since returning from a loan spell at Rangers in 2018/19.

The centre-half, a boyhood Forest fan, featured in every single league game under Sabri Lamouchi last season, as Forest missed out on a play-off finish.

This season, he has encountered problems with injury but has still lifted the Player of the Season award, after producing a series of impressive performances under Hughton.

His partnership alongside Scott McKenna has given plenty of reasons for Forest fans to be excited ahead of next season, and with Premier League interest emerging, they will be desperate to keep hold of him.

Not many would have expected Cash to be as good as he was last season.

Cash was converted into a right-back in pre-season last term following an injury to Tendayi Darikwa, and he went on to have an excellent season under Sabri Lamouchi.

Since making a big-money move to Aston Villa, Cash hasn't looked out of place whatsoever in the Premier League, and it surely won't be long until Gareth Southgate spots him for England.

He will go on to have an excellent career in the game, and Forest fans can count themselves lucky that they saw him thrive at right-back last season.

Nottingham-born Morgan has achieved so much in the game.

Last week, he helped Leicester City win the FA Cup for the first time after a 1-0 win at Wembley over Chelsea.

In 2015/16, he guided them to a remarkable Premier League title, producing a string of battling performances in the heart of defence.

Morgan made 381 appearances for Forest before leaving for the King Power, having originally come through the ranks at Notts County.

He's still going strong at the age of 37 years old.

Chris Cohen remains an adored figure on Trentside.

Forest signed Cohen from Yeovil Town, and he played an influential role in helping them win promotion from League One in 2008.

He racked up 300 appearances for the Reds during his lengthy stay at the City Ground, and injuries hampered his time at the Reds.

The most memorable moment was when he scored a long-range strike against Ipswich on the final day of the 2016/17 season, which ensured their safety.

His performances for Forest were magnificent.

Considering how well Antonio has done in his career, it's hard to overlook Antonio here.

Antonio signed for Forest from Sheffield Wednesday in 2014, scoring 14 goals and registering 14 assists in 2014/15.

He left for West Ham United the following season, and has scored 48 goals in 180 appearances for the Hammers since his move to the London Stadium.

Antonio has scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season and even though he hasn't made his debut for England just yet, he has earned two call-ups.

He was tremendous for the Reds during his brief spell on Trentside.
