Hull City have had their fair share of players over the years that have made a positive impact at the KCOM Stadium.

The Tigers will be preparing for life back in the Championship next season, after winning promotion from the third-tier of English football under the management of Grant McCann.

McCann has used a number of English-born players in this year's promotion-winning campaign, and he'll be hoping that they can replicate those impressive showings heading into the 2021/22 campaign, which is set to get under way in August.

We take a look at the top-ten best English players to have played for Hull City in the last 20 years.

Find out which player is at number ten, on the next page....

Liam Rosenior is the first player on the list at number ten, with the former Hull City right-back catching the eye with a number of impressive performances.

He first signed for the club back in 2010, having previously played for the likes of Fulham and Reading earlier in his career.

Rosenior wasted no time in making a positive impact with the Tigers at the KCOM Stadium, and became a regular in the starting XI in his time with the club.

He played his part in the club's promotion-winning season in the 2012/13 campaign, and featured for the Tigers whilst they were in the Premier League, before departing in 2015, as he moved to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tom Huddlestone is in at number nine on the list as Hull City's ninth-best English player from the last 20 years.

The midfielder had caught the eye with a number of strong performances earlier in his career for both Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur.

He went on to make over 150 appearances for Hull City's first-team, whilst also playing a key role in their promotion-winning season in 2015/16.

Huddlestone was also a regular for the Tigers whilst they were in the Premier League, before departing the club in 2017, as he moved back to Derby County.

Harry Maguire is eighth on the list, with the former Hull City man going on to become a regular in the Premier League.

The defender spent two full seasons with the Tigers, having signed for the club back in July 2014, having previously been on the books with Sheffield United earlier in his career.

Maguire left Hull City in 2017, as he went on to move to Leicester City. He then went on to catch the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Foxes, which earned him a move to Manchester United in 2017.

He's a regular in the Red Devils' starting XI ever since, and is captain of Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side.

Matty Fryatt spent four seasons with Hull City, and certainly made a positive impact with the Tigers.

He had previously been with Walsall and Leicester City, but went on to score 31 goals in 94 appearances for Hull City, which included finding the back of the net in the top-flight for the club.

Fryatt departed the KCOM Stadium in 2014, as he went on to sign for Nottingham Forest, which is where he ended up finishing his playing career three years later.

Hull have had their fair share of players that have struggled in front of goal in their time with the club, but Fryatt certainly doesn't fit into that category.

Fraizer Campbell is in at number six, with the former Hull City forward making 114 appearances in total for the Tigers.

He scored some crucial goals in his time with the club, as he hit 33 goals and was on hand to provide 20 assists in total for them whilst they were playing their football in the Championship.

Campbell had previously been on the books with Manchester United, Sunderland and Cardiff City, before making the move to the KCOM Stadium in 2017.

Campbell is currently playing his football for Championship side Huddersfield Town, where he'll come up against his former side during the 2021/22 campaign.

Ian Ashbee is next up, with the former Tigers man being a regular for Hull City in his time with the club.

Ashbee made over 200 appearances for the Tigers in total, but didn't get off to the best of starts with them, having been sent-off on his debut back in 2002.

But that didn't stop him from going on to become a firm fans favourite at Hull City, and their supporters might feel as though they didn't quite see the best of the defender, as injuries limited his game time towards the end of his spell with the club.

Jarrod Bowen is next up, with the former Hull City winger being one of the more recent names on the list as the club's best English players from over the years.

Bowen signed for Hull in 2014 after coming through the academy ranks with non-league side Hereford, but he adjusted well to his new surroundings at the KCOM Stadium.

131 appearances later, Bowen had 54 goals and 14 assists to his name in all competitions for the Tigers, as they spent time in both the Premier League and the Championship.

Bowen's strong performances didn't go unnoticed though, as that earned him a move to West Ham United in 2020.

Nick Barmby is next up, with the former Hull City midfielder catching the eye with a number of impressive performances in his time with the Tigers.

Barmby made over 190 appearances in total for Hull City, and scored 32 goals, whilst also being on hand to provide 17 assists during his time with the club.

He enjoyed a memorable first season with the Tigers, as they won promotion into the Championship, before going on to play his part in their promotion-winning season into the Premier League in the 2007/08 campaign.

Barmby retired from his playing career in January 2012, as he was appointed as Hull City's new manager.

Andy Dawson is second on the list, with the former Hull City defender making over 400 appearances for the club in total.

He was previously on the books with Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe United earlier in his career, before making the move to the Tigers in 2003.

Dawson was a regular for Hull City in his time with the club, and played in a testimonial match between the Tigers and Real Betis in 2012.

He left Hull City in 2013, as Dawson went on to return to Scunthorpe United, which is where he finished his career.

Dean Windass is in at number one, with the former Hull City man having two separate spells with the Tigers in his career.

He first signed for them back in 1991, and caught the eye with a number of impressive performances in his four-year spell with the club.

He then departed in 1995, before re-signing for the club in 2007. Windass wasted no time in making a positive impact for Hull City as well, as he went on to score 15 goals in 42 appearances for the Tigers, as they won promotion into the Premier League in the 2007/08 season.

Windass then left the club for a second time in 2009.
