Charlton Athletic suffered a further setback in their battle against relegation from the Championship as they slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

Lee Bowyer's side would have been aiming to return to winning ways following their defeat to Sheffield Wednesday during the week, but Charlton instead worsened their relegation fears as they were dismantled by Huddersfield in Yorkshire.

The result means the Addicks are now sitting just two points above the bottom three heading into the final 10 games of the season, with relegation rivals such as Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield having improved their results in recent matches.

Charlton boss Bowyer told London News Online earlier this month that his side should need 14 more points to seal their second-tier status, with the south London side having beaten Nottingham Forest and Luton since this statement.

One Charlton supporter took to the Charlton Athletic FC (The unofficial & UnCensored Charlton Fans Group) on Facebook to ask whether another eight points from the final 10 league matches will be enough to keep the Addicks afloat.

Plenty of Charlton supporters responded by suggesting they will need more than eight points to seal their Championship survival, with many expressing fear over the recent form of some of the teams sat near them in the league table.

Here are some of the responses...

Daniel Hopper: 8 won’t be enough.

Alan Fendick: When he said that I don't think that he was expecting the bottom teams to be picking up the points that they are.

Andrew Waller: I agree Alan for that reason. I think he might need to change the target.

Kester Long: I think we'll get 8 and maybe more but the target has definitely changed with other teams recent results.

Adrian Cooper: If we get to 50 points that should be enough.

Naftali Morgenstern: Let's see how Middlesbrough do today, how we do against them and whether Hull continue to free-fall.
